I did everything you said but it still didnt fix my problem. i am using my dualshock but it plays like if it had pc keybinds. for example i need to move the right thumbstick around the screen and the player followsit. i shoot with r2 and the rest just doesnt work

My ps5 controller doesn't work at all without steam input, when it's enabled the game thinks it is an Xbox one controller.

So my issue is that the Lb 1 (ps5) will not work even in the menus you cant go left with it you have yo use RB 1…also xbox controller buttons show in game vs Ps5 controller buttons. So ill see if this helps.
