How to Fix Controller Pressing Keyboard Keys on PC (Steam Tutorial)

Do you want to know how to fix your Controller pressing keyboard buttons on PC! To do this go to steam and launch it into big picture mode, then go to controller and go to the desktop configuration. Then go to templates and apply a generic gamepad template for your xbox or ps4, ps5 controller. Also, uncheck mark guide button focuses steam. This will stop the PS button or the XBOX button opening steam.

June 2024- Confirming this fix worked with an issue I had with a ps5 controller and Steam. After updating my whole computer and trying to play a game (circle) on my PS5 controller would act as (X) but (X) was still inputting for what it usually did. I noticed when I input buttons on my PS controller in-game the keyboard icons showed after a flash of the PS ones. Resetting the controllers to use the same template you chose did the fix.

It worked. Every other video has an old version of the big picture mode and it really confuses everybody. This will change it just change your template.

The bug of Guide Button was switching to big picture mode. But not only... combined with joystick, it was also adjusting my volume. That is completely awful. It came out of nowhere. I don't know the purpose of those mysterious updates except for pissing players off. So I'd like to thank you so much! Even if this kind of BS will not be the last I gonna have to face.

This actually worked, was trying to play DBZ BT3 on my computer using dolphin but it kept giving me prompts, thanks to this tutorial I can play DBZ BT3 again!
