It's a gaslighting term for having healthy work boundaries. Some peeps are saying 'there goes your promotion' and I'm like 'there goes your mental health and critical thinking skills'

Joshua nailed it- people quiet quit AFTER their "going the extra mile" wasn't recognized and those who are slackers get the promotions.

Company: “Can you work more and get paid less?”
Me: “No.”
Company: “Lazy Quiet Quitter!!”

Thank you Gen Z. We have been exploited & burnt out for years, and you are teaching these corporate goons by setting the boundaries that we havent been able to keep up for years.

This isn't quiet quitting. This is working. Just...working. According to what you agreed in a contract. You're not quitting.

Apparently I've been quiet quiting since I was 10 and realized that if I put extra effort into certain things I'd just be rewarded with more work.

Quiet quitting is a re-branding of a century old thing called "Italian strike" that is when each and every employee starts working strictly by the book not a minute more while meticulously adhering to every formal or safety procedure there is.

Indian work culture is about toiling away and not getting paid. I am 30. I never heard of quite quitting as a terminology; however, i have been practicing it since my second job. My first job drained me, made me feel worthless. When I put my papers down, my boss said i am not hireable. That's an extremely demeaning noun. Today, I earn in 6 digits.
That news anchor and channel are very biased, just like most media houses these days. I hope people won't take them seriously.

Today's favor becomes tomorrow's expectation.

I had the same "extra mile" mentality. I thought that would help me in the long run, but my mental health suffered instead. I quit and learned to play the game without killing myself over work.

"Quiet Quitting" is literally "I am doing my job." lmfao

Fun fact; She quit her job after this video was aired.

Imagine shaming a hooker or prostitute for "quiet quitting"

After the time is up you demand she stay longer and do more without any additional money. If she demands more, you accuse her of being a lazy slacker.

Doesnt that sound insane? The same should apply to all jobs

This reminds me of the “checkers” on Facebook and Twitter the last two years.

“Living a normal well balanced life is actually NOT good for you. Here’s why”

Let's not forget "Quiet Demotions", which is when companies don't give their employees yearly cost of living increases (let alone raises) for the exact same job, thus ensuring that the employee's purchasing power is reduced year after year.

"Managers can tell when your work is dropping from before"

So unironically what I am hearing is that dont overly raise your productivity when you start as that is what most ppl do and managers use that as a baseline of what they can squeeze out of you.

Thanks, message recieved!

I did "Quiet Quit" one job and it was after management didn't honor my boarding agreement. I worked for 1 year towards a goal and when I got there my manager moved the goal post. Instead of letting them keep doing that I just went to the basic job description and stopped doing extras. I did that for 6 months before they called me out and I left. If companies don't want to pay a fair wage then be prepared for people to stop going above and beyond.

I can't stand people who call me lazy when they aren't giving me any money. Mind your own F'in business.

I remember working for a factory some years ago, guy had figured out a way to reinvent their logistics layout in the building because he was bored on his machine. Ended up saving them about 600k annually.
What did he get for it? a 25$ gift card.

Thanks for calling out this corporate + media BS! Back in 2010 my first boss told me that "no one fires anyone anymore, they just make it impossible for you to stay". So quiet quitting may be a new thing but quiet firing is certainly not!

It's not "quiet quitting" it's setting a boundary that we pre-negotiated when you hired me. I've had plenty of jobs I went above and beyond, like working on weekends and holidays, guess what? I was let go from one and denied promotion on another. Wow. I worked my ass off, no social life, no hobbies and they "rewarded" me like this? Nah. I'm doing only what you paid for and if you fire me. Great. People annoyed at this: Here is a comparison. I give you a Macbook pro. But you wanted Photoshop and Final Cut Pro. I tell you, fine but it's extra money. Now you're mad at me for not giving you more software FOR FREE.
