Why Do Catholics Pray to Dead People?

Many Protestants critique Catholic and Orthodox Christians of asking the saints for their intercession to God, to hear their prayers. They claim this is not Biblical. In this video I offer a defense of saintly intercession and how we can infer it, although not explicitly found, from several parts of the Bible, such as the Book of Hebrews and Revelation.

Each to their own but I'm satisfied with the intercession by the Holy Spirit.

God is the God of the living. The Saints in Heaven are more alive than we are!

Intersession of the Saints in heaven was one of the tipping points for me because I believed it when I was Protestant and got tired of explaining the Catholic position despite not being Catholic.

Another quote from a church:

As we celebrate with our festive gatherings the birthday of this great man, the Lord's forerunner, the blessed John, let us ask for the help of his prayers. Because he is the friend of the bridegroom you see, he can also obtain for us that we can belong to the bridegroom, that we may be thought worthy to obtain his grace." – St. Augustine[1]

If you believe in Jesus Christ the Son of the living God who died for us so we may have life after death, then your spirit lives with Christ after you die. We pray to Mary and our Saints to petition and present it to our Lord. You can think of it this way, a group of people or congregation praying for you is stronger than just praying alone.

Think about this. If i cannot ask someone in heaven to pray for me then the whole life after death is a scam. For me this is an essential part of our faith that proves there is life after death.
If we can't ask saints to pray for us Christianity is a scam we can't have it both ways

Jesus shows us how to pray tho and literally prays to the father as we should not to a saint God only needs to hear our prayers Saints can't do anything because they're not God GOD is omnipotent/omnipresent so we should pray to our Heavenly Father in the Name of Jesus by the Holy Spirit❤ God bless I would like your thoughts please Reply

Pretty sad people say I hope grandma is watching from heaven and then bash saints who help people and the church for having compassion and hope for people who unfortunately pass away to me people bash people who pass away is the same people who bash freedom and values and morals itself to me they sound selfish and only want themselves and family to be heaven

I left the Catholic church back in my early teens, but now as an adult, these videos are helping me understand more than what I was taught in Catholic school. I'm still unsure if I should return to Catholicism, I'm just putting my trust in the Lord and where he leads me.

John 14:6
New International Version
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Praying to saints is a form of idol worshiping In John 14: 7 - 11, Jesus makes it clear that the Father is in Him and He is in the Father. In verses 13 -14 Jesus says: “I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask Me for anything in My name, and I will do it. BOTH So no need for rosaries or Saints. All u need is Jesus him self he is the way to the father for they r one God bless you all pray for the truth to be revealed to you we will always fall short by man alone. Read ur Bible for the truth

Why pray to the saints as a intercessor when jesus literally is our intercessor, plus me personally I would just pray to jesus because what's Mary gonna do for me that jesus can't, I'd rather talk to the king who has the power to do what I'm asking rather than anyone else, but thats kinda more about effectiveness than right and wrong, but still, I don't wanna discount the idea of the intercessor, basically I just don't see the saints as our intercessor, Jesus is
