Because the difference is a speed bin, depending on the fab yield and demand for the two versions, you may get an 'x' speed when you buy the non-x version. Maybe.

Upgraded my daughters PC which was a Intel i7-4770, 16GB DDR3 2400Mhz, GeForce GTX 1080 to a Ryzen 5 5600, 16GB DDR4 3200 and a GeForce RTX 3060 12GB (My sons old card) and it gets 59fps AVG on Red Dead 2 with a mixture of mainly Ultra and a few high settings on 3440x1440p.

5600 non x is the best value and only 0.2% - 2% slower for a way cheper price and you can always oc 5600 on a cheap mobo to get better perf than stock 5600x and these difference is only with 3080 in 1080p most users will use 3070 level gpu at 1440p and 3060 level gpus at 1080 and there will be no perf difference then

take note that amd made 5600 as the b350's/b450's upgraders choice. those who were stuck in the zen1/1+ realm will find this their saving grace, just a bios update and done! intel 12400fs are cheaper and a bit powerful sure, but lets not forget u MUST buy a bnew motherboard.

Yeah regardless if I have the x version or not still think its a huge upgrade from my ryzen 7 2700? And the non x version is cheaper by $55 and the x version is on back order till 11/11/2022 so think i'm going with the non x version

THe 5600x is not worth the extra money. Better go for the non-x and spend the money on a good cooler or faster RAM or something.
