"The good days are back" never been more true.
I built my first pc late 2018. R5 2600 and an rx 580. Still going strong, I'm just glad I can finally upgrade without selling a kidney.

I just got a r5 5600 for 132$ USD after tax at microcenter. If these types of deals can be found, it is an absolute steal. I am loving the performance.

Thank you for being the reviewer to finally making me feel good about purchasing a Ryzen 5500 and B450 (just last month - under $400 CAD with 1TB M.2). Every other review kept saying it wasn't good value, but for me it was shockingly affordable to get my first Ryzen, DDR4 and NVME capable computer. I've been just "getting by" for years with Intel Gen 2, 3, and 4 systems for years and now I've finally got a system that has some real performance.

This video makes me very happy. For myself and my wife, and most of my gaming friends, if a CPU can always hit 60 FPS at 1089P, then it is a gaming CPU.

Nice vid and i just want to also point out that a common problem people say is that you get more FPS or larger cache. A LOT of people fail to realize is that you are comparing them with a 3080TI and people with a high end GPU dont really play at 1080P and LOW. So once you stick with mid range options like 6600 or 3060 then a 5500 is nearly identical already to the others. Others also state that but its not the max performance. And I ask them do you even have a Monitor that can handle 300 FPS. Most people buying this are probably just going to have 60-75Hz

Been loving your videos since the old days, I was looking at getting the 5500 the other day and you've convinced me! Been running a i7 2600 system for wayyyy too long and its affecting my nice new gpu now. Hope all is well looking forward to more helpful videos like this!

I like how when there is no winner for the cpu, every buyer is the winner no matter what cpu they buy. It only depends on your situation if you already have a motherboard or buying 2nd hand with tight budget etc.

Upgraded my Ryzen 5 1600 to Ryzen 5 5500 on a B350 GAMING PRO CARBON. Made a big difference and now I can upgrade to Windows 11 if I want to.

I'm always looking at cheaper cpu's for budget builds for others. This comparison was very useful thanks man!

The 5500 is really cheap when compared to the 5600 like 1k difference in my currency but personally i say it's worth it. I don't think the 5500 is by all means weak and it's really budget friendly(it came in cheaper than what my 2600 non x cost back in 2018). It can also game fine in 1080p and even higher. Where it wouldn't matter between the cpu's is is if you actually pair it with a realistic gpu like a 6600 or rtx 3060. The performance will be negligible .

Just upgraded to a 5500 from a 2600 last month. And it's definitely noticeable performance difference even with a simple task like opening an app. Yeah, i just refuse to pay 35% more for a 5600. BTW i'm using an X370 mobo. What a beautiful thing that we can drop a new CPU on a 5 year old mobo. good times. thanks AMD

I' ve used a 5600G which is basically a 5500 with an igpu, and I can tell you that the memory controller on those chips is a no joke. I mean using a ddr4 4200 cl16 is like a dream. Now I'm using a 5700G, and I've became mr. 8 cores all day every day, but pair the the Ryzen5 5500 with something like a 2080Ti - which is a pcie 3.0 card, and you are good to go yor years.

I'd love to see how the R5 3600 fits in here!

I just built a used system with an R5 3600, and I have to say, it's a beast for photo editing and gaming. Quite the upgrade over my old i7-3770s system lol! And I only paid about $170USD for the 3600 w/cooler + a B450 Steel Legend mobo a few months back.

The 5600 seems to be a bit scarce in the UK and CPU's in general more expensive than the US and Australia. Even used.

Yeah that summary was spot on when you said the good times are back. They probably won't last so long, so best to buy now if you don't plan to buy a new platform from AMD or Intel, meaning next gen.

As a side note, if you are on tight on a budget to go for a 5500, remember not to pair it with a 6500XT/6400 GPU! I believe that is the bizarre situation where the PCIe 3.0 would cause a significant performance drop. Also as a side note, I think these CPUs are better tested with something like a 6600/3060 to show how much little performacne difference is there instead of a 3080 which is probably more than the cost of everything else in the build.
