If I buy a Toyota car, I buy a family car not a sport car. People buying a Toyota for raliability, comfort, durable, daily use.

Too much whining about performance when the competition offers similar powertrains with often less hp than this vehicle.

This guy is acting like you are supposed to be comparing this to a Ferrari. It’s a cross over. Not meant to beat anybody in a race. Sure there are more powerful engines out there but you are paying for it in money and gas mileage. For what this car is, in its own category, it beats most all competition in horsepower by about 10 to 15+ hp.

Always a blast watching the comments on a Toyota review, the same people who can't even finance a decent car and roll 3 other loans into a Chevy Spark or Nissan Versa are always the ones hopping onto outdated tropes about brands, as if adequate power and thoughtful ergonomics was such a terrible thing, or gassing themselves up thinking anyone should be threading the needle going 100 mph on a traffic bogged highway system. 🤡

Only problem will be figuring out which grey one is mine in the parking lot.

Some of the complaints about performance here are just ridiculous 😂

People buy Toyota for what it is, so take or leave that simple

The rear styling looks really nice actually. The only reason I wish this had more power was for getting to the ski hills in the snow in the winter with the AWD. Would be nice to give this thing a little more rally car attitude.

Yes, the torque numbers are the problem . . . but I suppose that Toyota is more worried about MPG than 0-60. Still, other engines with a good amount of torque manage better.

does any normal person who is not racing really press on gas pedal 100% ever? I always don’t get the merging in freeway statements. You accelerate base on incoming traffic or lack thereof. There is rarely ever a time where there is back to back cars going pass 65 mph in the right lane .

The Corolla Cross reminds me of my 2003 Toyota Matrix XR. Reliable transportation with lots of interior space, decent mpg, sleepy acceleration.

The only thing that sucks is that it has trouble getting on the highway which can be dangerous but I think the driver can adapt hopefully lol

I can’t wait for the hybrid version of this. Hopefully, it’ll be a little peppier.

I think I would buy the Toyota Corolla Cross as a hybrid, which I suspect will come with a more powerful engine, whenever it becomes available. The 169 HP and 150 lb ft of torque is just too anemic for a CUV.

I once owned a first generation CR-V which was about as slow as what he's describing with the Corolla Cross. He's right, it's a safety issue because there are times when you need the extra acceleration. It's not just for racing or driving aggressively. For that reason, I consider the lack of HP a deal breaker. Might as well spend a little extra and get a RAV4.

Let’s wait for the next one with more HP…. And Hybrid…. Cool video

You really need to do your homework on what the hell you’re reviewing. It’s not a Corvette with 450lbs of toque! It’s not a Deisel Pickup with 15, 000 lbs of towing, nor is it a Bugatti worth 1200 horsepower!
It’s a 25k to 30K$ hatchback with a 2 liter 169 hp motor that gets 35mpg. So find some other vehicle to review with a negative conitation. For what it is and does, it’s excellent.
