The Toyota Corolla is one of the best-selling cars of all time, and over the years, #Toyota has tried to expand its reach by offering variations on that traditional 4-door sedan Corolla shape that we’ve all come to know. Their latest attempt to shake things up is this #CorollaCross utility. So, let’s see what this Corolla-flavored SUV can bring to a very crowded small utility segment. #ToyotaCorolla

It never ceases to amaze me when I stop to think how I've been listening to John Davis' mellifluous voice reviewing cars for 40 years! The automotive world now is so different from what it was when John started, yet he keeps soldiering on taking it all in his stride and doing a great job reviewing cars; may he continue for many more years to come.

Remember watching Motorweek every afternoon with my brother back in the mid 80s; just kids dreaming about which cars we would get accordingly to the reviews...some 40 odd years later, still get nostalgic af when I hear John's voice...Brings me back to those better/happier days. THX Motorweek...

Just like the RAV4, Camry and Highlander, the powertrain to get is the hybrid. Toyota has worked so hard to perfect this system over the years, it’s really the better choice for most, if not everyone in these segments.

i have the corolla cross with 2.0 engine. i use extreme driving style to get 5.0L/100km, which is 49 MPG. i never go over 100km/h, seldom let the engine go over 2500rpm when accelerating and hyper mill when ever possible. so l smile when i see the gas pump, and its a different kind of fun to squeeze for MPG.

Not much of a value when there is no inventory and what’s available has insane mark ups.

Hard to believe 0-60 in 10 seconds is slow now, but it definitely is. Was kinda quick 15 years ago😁

I got turned on to the Corolla Cross when they first made the announcement that it was coming. Toyota quality, I believed, would more than outweigh that typical "avoid brand new car designs because they haven't worked out all the bugs yet." I started comparing it with the Subaru Crosstrek Sport and thought it was going to be a tough decision. Unfortunately, no matter how many websites showed this vehicle being in stock, I could never get my hands on one until the local auto show, by which point I had bought a RAV4 XLE instead. The Crosstreks had a long waiting list and these Corolla Crosses seemed to be as rare as can be so I had to jump on the first RAV4 I could find. The whole supply chain issue is going to hurt new entries like this no matter how good they are as I'm sure there are a lot of people like me that just had to settle for the next best option available at the time.

A few years ago the HVAC controls would've been labeled as tiny, a distraction, etc. Times have changed. The low power numbers will be the demise of ICE vehicles like this. This is how Toyota has retained a reputation for reliable but not fun to drive vehicles. So many thoughts on cost cutting. At least it's reliable. I guess that's all that matters.

I had an opportunity to rent a brand new Corolla and if the Corolla Cross drives at least as well, I would definitely buy one. The pricing isn't bad, but I can count how many I have seen on one hand though. Otherwise not bad imo. The braking performance is great.

Not much of a value when local dealers are adding 5k mark ups.

Can’t wait for MW to put the hybrid cross and sedan AWD through the usual tests.

Compare to the Crosstrek, especially the little faster one with a 2.5 liter engine. Also the Mazda CX-30.

In such car my attitude simply is, what’s the rush?

I prefer the touch screen to be incorporated into the dash rather than what looks like added after the fact sticking out like a propped up tablet.

Wished that CVT's go away. It's a reason why I typically avoid any vehicles with it.
