2022 Toyota Corolla Cross review by The Straight Pipes. The Corolla Cross is putting down 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque from a 2.0L NA 4 Cyl. At $32.580 CAD, would you take it over the Mazda CX-30, Hyundai Kona, Toyota RAV-4?

1985: "We're going to have flying cars!"

2021: "I had to jailbreak my Corolla so I could start it in the winter."

Subscription-based paywalls for features the car has standard are insanity and people should absolutely not put up with it. They're trying to see if they can get away with it.

Subscription services on a car that is as inspiring as cinder block is a kick in the nuts . Good on you for calling Toyota out of this ridiculous practice .

It’s not a car I would buy for myself, but when the hybrid model comes out that will be the one to buy. Unless Toyota makes the battery a subscription.

One of the rare cases where manufacturer gave a mid-trim for car review.

I love these guys - a straight up honest review, and not some salesman trying to make mediocre features seem absolutely amazing

I appreciate all the subscription jokes because it’s insane. I would understand the subscription for starting your car with your phone or your smart watch. Your key fob though! That’s insane and I hope Toyota watches this and can make a change. I’ve loved Toyota for years I’ve owned 5 and currently own 2 if this continue I would look at other brands for my next new car. I don’t want basic services put behind a paywall.

Thank you for keeping it real and putting Toyota on blast. I was seriously considering buying this for my 14 year old now to pass off as a hand me down but y’all helped me make my decision… I think the Mazda CX-30 will be better for us. THANKS TSP!!!

As a guy from southeast asia, I'm stoked to watch a straight pipes video about a car I can actually relate to

I just today did an oil change on my daughter’s Prius c. There was ZERO rust under that car—I was stunned. The sound dampening “caulk” was applied with absolute precision—I’ve never seen it done so well. This is in a ~10YO cheapie car with >100k miles!!

Longevity is the point of a Toyota, not cutting edge features.

This Corolla Cross should have the Prius awd drivetrain as standard.

I love your "real" car reviews, cars that normal people drive.

I have an XLE with AWD, and it felt slow for a while. It took driving it more than 500 miles, to get it to stop feeling sluggish. It gets up to speed no issue now. It zoomsss

Rightfully clowning on Toyota's attempt to move into the subscription service model. 😀

Thank you for standing up for consumers' rights. Subscriptions for stuff that is already built into the car itself shouldn't be a thing. That subscription model is a plague that became popular in gaming and is spreading out to everything. Also, nice edit at 11:21.

In all seriousness, after watching this I can see cars starting to come out in one trim with all the tech already available on the car. You just have to subscribe to different packages to get the features you want. That’s gonna suck.

It’s a COROLLA. Of course it’s going to be slow. (If it was anymore powerful, it would be a RAV4.)The Subaru Crosstrek has the some engine and horsepower. I’m happy with my decision to upgrade from the Corolla sedan to the Cross. I wanted a little more trunk space, and to sit higher. I’m not towing anything. I never have passengers in my car. The FWD model seems like a great option with snow tires for the winter.

The backend of this thing looks like my 99 sienna minivan.

You guys didn't clarify this properly, the subscription is for the app services on the phone. The key fob 3x lock feature that starts the car is free for life. Do your homework guys. This is common knowledge.

I always thought of the RAV4 as the Corolla Cross to begin with.
