The new 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross offers a new small SUV slotted right under the RAV4. It offers a lot and packs a punch for it's price but obviously isn't perfect. Here are a few pros and cons after driving it around and living with it for a week.

I have had my Cross for a few months now, and really love it!

Family member bought a Kia, and another a Hyundai. 3 years and 4 years old, both having engine problems, paint problems, plastics breaking.. for a cheap car you’re getting something you know will last. Cheap cars are cheap cars, this doesn’t seem like it should be as cheap as it is in todays climate.

This is the car I want. It’s just for me and sometimes my nephew. My music will drown out any noise.

One thing we can all agree. It’s better than a Nissan.
I know because I have a Nissan. Dumb me for not doing my research before buying.
Going to trade my Nissan Versa for a Corolla Cross soon.

This is a very thorough review. Seeing the baby seat in the backseat really helped. I was worried about the same thing. Thank you very much.

OH NO! A SMALL vehicle doesn't have a LOT of room! What madness

Probably the main competitor is the Honda HR-V. It's a good thing the HR-V avoided putting that 1.5 L Turbo oil diluter in and went with the less powerful, but more reliable, 2.0 L. Those that want a little better mileage and don't need more legroom than the Toyota offers will probably love the Corolla Cross. Those that want more rear legroom or a bit more composure on the road will probably go with the Honda. Those that want AWD should probably go with the Subaru Crosstrek, because Subaru is king when it comes to AWD traction. It's pretty funny that these vehicles are being labeled "sport utility vehicles". They're station wagons. There's nothing wrong with that, but these aren't rough and tumble off road machines. They're compact cars that are slightly elevated with an extended roofline instead of a trunk or hatch.

I can't say for sure, but the road noise can sometimes be as simple as the wrong brand of tires. I have owned several cars, and 4 of them were Hondas (notorious for road noise) and sometimes the brand of tires makes a significant difference.

I will never get when people complain about a lack of features on the cheaper trims. Like that is the entire point of having higher trims.

Thank God I watched this video. I was looking at one because it's smaller than the RAV4 and I've got a tight driveway there's no way in hell I would buy this car now thank you.

Ugh .
I’m doing a really good research on this car. Part of me wants it, the only thing that kind of stops me from getting it is knowing it has a CVT transmission .

Mine is a 2024. The safety system stopped working while going 55 mph (Curvy road). The car is only 3000 miles. I'm still waiting for them to give it back to me.

Thank you so much for this, I am between the HRV, corolla cross, and the sub Crosstrek. The video helped me probably rule out the corolla cross, just too small! The HRV is my dream, but getting one is the biggest challenge!

I really am digging the Corolla Cross and will seriously consider it in AWD when I move back to Buffalo, NY from Florida. I currently own a 2020 GMC 😅Terrain Denali FWD. I really like it but it’s still a GM with a turbo and direct injection only so I will have concerns about its longevity as it ages. I like the bells and whistles but I’m also wanting to get back to basic with my next vehicle and purchase something more for value, utility and all those important but boring things. The noisy interior is a concern for me. I will have to drive one to see how much it bothers me. I wonder if would be worth popping off the door panels and taking out the seats and carpeting to add sound deadening since this seems like a vehicle I’d buy and keep for years and years.

In other words, wait a few years before considering this suv. Toyota will have to update a lot of things.

Drive fatigue is a major cause of road accidents and there is a fair amount of research supporting the adverse effects of road noise and driver fatigue. This should be a buying consideration for anyone who spends much time behind the wheel.

Forget it in Toronto, one Salesman told me it took over a year of waiting list ! While the other who l deals with before whispers in my ear " it's a lie, took 2 years "

For all those fussing about the noise, I just test drove a Honda Accord Sport, and it was unbearably noisy, being so close to the ground. A terrible car overall, and also with lots of problems I hear, so never Honda again. I owned a Honda accord 2005 EX for years, (bought it brand new) and it was amazingly quite. I was going to buy a honda accord, again, but switched to a Toyota Cross. Just ordered one. And In fact this Cross more has horse power than the Accord XL, which had plenty of horse power for me. I dont need a gas guzzler.
