It is indeed terrible having a narcistic parent.  The abusive relationship between the narcissistic mother and me affected me a lot. If you have never experienced such pain and emotional confusion, you will never understand how it feels like. I believe It was only my strong guts and willpower that allowed me to recognize that something was not going right. These days, as a clinical psychotherapist I help my clients deal with their harmful relationships with their narcistic parents. I have a profound sense of empathy for their suffering. Though, the trauma may remain for some period of live to some extent, the most effective course of action is to recognize the trauma, begin focusing on the healing process, establish clear boundaries, release the burden of guilt, and grow in self-awareness and self-trust.
