Knee Locked Up? Bucket Handle Meniscus Tear Explained #surgery

preview_player
Показать описание
Bucket-handle meniscal tears represent 10-26% of all #meniscustears involve a vertical or oblique longitudinal tear with an attached fragment displaced away from the periphery of the meniscus. #BucketHandleTears can begin at the posterior meniscal insertion on the tibia and extend anteriorly past the anterior-middle third junction. Displacement of the inner segment into the intercondylar notch can additionally occur and lead to locking/pain/perceived instability. Repair failure can lead to total or subtotal loss of meniscal function. Successful repair can preserve joint kinematics and prevent progressive osteoarthritis in a typically young, athletic patient population #kneepain #buckethandletear

8 weeks post surgical repair, hoping to get the green light to start learning to ambulate this week. It’s been a long road, toughest surgical recovery I’ve ever had personally.

I had a motorcycle wreck 2 years ago and broke every bone in my left leg. I’ve since recovered but my knee/leg will NOT bend past 90° (an L shape) could this be the cause? And should I go to my ortho dr to have surgery?

I have a bucket tear in my lateral meniscus that has shifted anterior. My primary wouldn’t order me an MRI. I found an ortho to order one after 3 weeks with a locked knee. I finally have surgery scheduled after a month of not walking. I really hope their neglect doesn’t cause me to have a worse outcome.

Uncrossing my legs in bed and i tore it. My knee was bent, i had to straighten it out for an Xray(that hurt) and was unable to bend my knee for about 2 months before i got the surgery in 2016 and now im feeling pretty bad knee pain. Yay

Does this usually require repair or removal?

Would a lock knee that violently shakes back when the leg extends be indicative of this problem?

I had a meniscus surgery debridement 2 years ago when I was 17, I started playing soccer again after the surgery, then my knee started locking up 7 months after the surgery, doctors don’t see any tears in the mri so not sure whether to get another surgery since therapy hasn’t helped after 1 year with locking

I had mine repaired a year ago lastnight I bent it the wrong way and there she goes. Does that mean another surgery?

I had a bucket handle meniscus tear and they said it was nothing becuase they wouldn’t do mri, so I thinking I was okey I rode my bike everyday and did a lot of activities and then 3 months later they FINNALY said it’s an emergency to have surgery and then it was too late, the entire meniscus was torn to shreds so they had to do a different surgery
