Doctors said "I have no idea why you hurt" I demanded an MRI and they found a complex meniscus tear. If you hurt, advocate for yourself. Pain isn't normal.

I'm not ignoring the damaged meniscus I'm just poor and can't afford the surgery

Spent years with my knee locking up. They checked for torn meniscus multiple times. Turned out to be plica tears. Had 7 tears repaired. Much better now.

Tell that to my workers comp case manager 🙄
Initial injury happened Feb 23rd this year today is 8/21 did the required PT and all the other BS
MRI confirmed meniscus tearing, this will be my 3rd arthroscopy if it ever gets through.( first 2 were in high school, 1st football, 2nd the surgeon missed some cartilage the 1st time and my knee locked up) both times I was cleared to go back to impact sports

My knee gives out 2-4 times a day, lost my job because of tardiness violations due to walking to work as I live close enough that I don’t need a car.(they were 100% aware of lack of transportation before employment)
Will probably be calling a lawyer today because I can’t do it anymore. (This is a big box store btw 🙄)

Sorry for the rant TL;DR take care of yourself cause this crap hurts.

This guy is describing this exactly the way I've been doing for the last two months. Doc checked out my MRI this morning, and we just need to schedule the surgery.

Suffered a knee injury three weeks ago. Ortho urgent care was able to get me in for an MRI within a week from incident, sports med consult a week and a half later, and I have sx set up next week.

I STILL cannot put my weight on my left leg 3.5 weeks post injury and am crutch/(wheelchair for convenience and to save my shoulders) bound.

But I also have a major displaced bucket handle tear to medial meniscus (and multifocal but less extreme tearing to the lateral, and a complete ACL tear).

Oh, and I’m 35 weeks pregnant 😅

El Paso Manual Physical Therapy has fabulous you tube videos on healing torn meniscus, highly recommended. It helped me lots.

My husband rolled up a thick washrag, got on the floor like a cat or dog, put the rag below the kneecap and rocked a little, pushes the pad back in place. Avoided surgery. But of course not all pain is from the same problem. Even go to a sports chiropractor.

what treatment would you advise for a sprained left knee, having difficulties in straightening and bending the knee in full rotation.?

Same here I have some sharp pain that feels like muscle weakness and something that's causing me to flex my knee, it gets stiff and hard to flexible and walk, so first thing they did was an X-ray lol but of course it's not going to show nothing..but waiting on my PCP doctor to tell me what she can do next, because some nurses don't know what they are doing in the ER. They told me all they can do is give me pain medication and for me to follow up with my PCP...I know it's the beginning but still we don't know the level and condition it's in..we must run a MRI to see soft tissues and I'm thinking it's meniscus which is part of cartilage
That's tear..we would need to see this on MRI
They ask if it's a injury yes it's an injury..
I'm waiting to see if my new doctor will referral me to MRI

Had pain in my knee since I was about 10. Fell and busted it the bone about 2 years before. I played basketball and softball. Then my knee would lock or give out regularly. Had numerous MRI and XRay over the years. Only showed arthritis. Had knee scoped when I was 19. I had no cartilage. At 24 had another surgery because my daily life was so affected. My job required me to be on my feet for hours. I had a free floating knee cap that the doc played with. He brought other physicians at the office in to see. After the surgery doc said he had never seen so much damage before that did not show on any test. The meniscus was severely torn on the under part. Scans only show the top view.

Good luck getting real treatment. Seems like only knee replacements are the option told to people for any knee problem.

My surgeon said he couldnt find my meniscus and found it behind my knee, I wasn't really on this planet at the time so what could he have done with it? Fast forward 9 months half my screws snapped in my tibia plateau displacement fracture and I'm getting a knee replacement in 3 weeks, I'm 30
