Yes. He had to stay humble while in his human state to not sin.

However, He agreed with Peter who admitted He was the Son of God. God the Father said, this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, hear Him. John 3:16 says, He is the only begotten Son of God.

Honest question - I believe in the Trinity because scripture clearly teaches it. I know it is true. However, if God meant the Father to a 1st century Jew, why did Thomas call Jesus my God, why did Peter call Jesus God in the opening of his second letter?

Jesus Christ admitted to Peter He was the Son of God and told him to not reveal it yet. He said to Peter He would build His church on Himself, being the Son of God.

Catholics mistakenly think He meant He would build His church on the Apostle Peter personally instead.
