Why did Jesus say 'The Father is Greater than I'?

Clarifying about the distinctions between God the Father and God the Son.

At the end Jesus says " now Father give me the glory that I had with you before the world existed"

As a Christian, I believe this to be a very good question and answer. Even some Christians may have had that type of question but was hesitant to ask.

Because Jesus Christ in the flesh was limited, he could only be in one geographical place at a time.

Yes AGREED. In his incarnation in FLESH, Jesus LOWERED himself to the status of a SERVANT. But in his very NATURE, he is DEITY. "Being in very nature God... he made himself nothing, by taking on the nature of a servant" (Philippians 2:8, 7). "In Christ, all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form" (Colossians 2:9).

The complete verse says:
Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
Explanation:
why Jesus and disciples should rejoice? Because Jesus having limitations as an incarnate son/man, now going to heaven to become as power as the father. Actually It confirms Jesus divinity rather than humanity, only if we read the context not just the text.

Don't misinterpret what jesus(p.b.u.h) said by adding your own words and understanding in the bible. And accept the fact that the father is indeed greater than jesus (p.b.u.h). And that his father is our father, and his God is our God. PERIOD

The son ALWAYS inherit the nature of his parents and because Jesus born of the Holy Spirit and a Human Mother, Jesus is FULLY Divine (Spirit) and FULLY Human (Flesh)

Because Jesus was in flesh, and flesh is lower than Spirit.

Hebrews 2:9 -- "But we see Jesus, Who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man."

The flesh is lower than the angels.

Paul goes into a little more detail below:

Philippians 2:5-11 -- "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but _made Himself of no reputation, _ and took upon Him _the form of a servant, _ and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, *He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, * even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a Name which is above every name: That at the Name of JESUS _every knee should bow, _ of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father."

1 Timothy 3:16 -- "And without controversy _great is the mystery_ of godliness: *God was manifest in the flesh, * justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory."

Because of His Love for us, He *chose* to humble Himself and enter flesh, which is inferior to Spirit, just so He could sacrifice Himself for us, to save us. Jesus is not in a lower form of Deity in any way though. Note the "great is the *MYSTERY* of godliness" ? God has more than One Form and can do multiple tasks at once! :) This is a *mystery* to our minds because we're only flesh and blood, and cannot be multiple forms at once.
