Dr. Greger, I never had beef with you (pardon the pun) over any of your videos..

My takeaway from this video was that if you have cholesterol troubles and if you have already taken the major steps such as removing meat, dairy, and eggs from your diet and you are still having problems maybe looking at the secondary things like fried veggies and apparently coffee is the next step. I didn't get any indication that Dr. Gregor was claiming your morning joe is single handedly going to give you the cholesterol of someone eating the SAD. Cheers!

Very interesting stuff. I do know someone who is eating a mostly plant based diet at this point but still has high cholesterol. I will suggest they try cutting out their coffee and see if things improve. Thank you Dr. Greger!

I am getting sick of thinking about all of this. I struggled for years to get to plant based and have done it. Now we have to avoid nuts and coffee and avocados etc. I am not saying doctor Greger recommends avoiding nuts and avocado but we are bombarded with conflicting information. Doctor Greger is the best and filtering(pardon the pun) out the noise. I avoid doctors for the most part but watch all of his latest findings. It is just hard to accept that a coffee bean can lead to a heart attack. meanwhile it is apparently very good for the liver. Makes no sense. I am in a bad mood...lol

One thing that is very consequential is the proper use of volumetric units. At 1m15s into the video, the graph which shows espresso in the middle of the tier, with quite a high amount of LDL-raising compound, the units are in mg/cup. Per cup! No one drinks a cup of espresso. An espresso is roughly 1-3oz.

It stands to reason that a serving (i.e. 1-3oz) of espresso could fall quite low on the spectrum when compared to all brewing methods, if the units on the graph (mg/cup) are truly correct and intentionally applied to espresso and not just all the other brew methods.

I love a double espresso in the mornings, so as you can imagine I'm hoping those units are accurate and intentional :)

If anyone knows, or if the Dr himself (or his team) can chime in, that would be very interesting and very much appreciated!

What about decaff? I remember you saying it was better in some way ages back, but can’t remember what you said specifically

I've often wondered about the reports of french press coffee leading to higher cholesterol levels. However being plant-based for a year with total cholesterol of 110 and a LDL of 50, I think I am safe to continue my daily french press for now. :)

the good news is... as a 5 year+ vegan who uses a French press every my doctor says my cholesterol levels are so low that he can't even run a risk test on me....
Enjoy your coffee folks! oh ya, dont drink the sludge at the bottom, obviously :)))

People generally look better anyway, if they avoid or limit caffeine products that dehydrate the body.

Yes, but is it healthy in spite of the Cholesterol increase? I mean most studies show that it lowers all cause mortality from what i've seen.

Please comment on the various pod configuration used in Keurig machines. Some pods have a paper filter while others just have a tea bag type of mesh.

Would you mind doing a video exploring the effects of kombucha on our gut flora and whether drinking it has any affect on our gut?

Dark roast may raise cholesterol the least, but what about its AGE content?

I would love to see if there is a difference between fullcaf and decaf.

Step 1: Buy organic decaf coffee
Step 2: Buy organic paper coffee filters

Results:
99% NO Cafestol + 99% NO caffeïne = Enjoy!

Doctors are stupid this is perfect a healthy alternative to drink coffee without side effects of caffeïne or cholesterol.
