I think your point is valid and more applicable to Protestant churches than Catholic churches. When I decided to return to church, I carefully considered which one i would join. I found no Orthodox church near me but I was looking for a traditional church that did not and would not fly a rainbow flag in front of it. I joined a Catholic Church on Pentacost 2024. Best decision I ever made.

My son is 21 and has chosen an eastern orothdex church an hour away from his home. He has fasted and they have to take classes to learn the word to be a member. I absolutely love everything about it. I do enjoy attending with him also.

I am Protestant and I have been taught that the spiritual discipline of fasting is how we get closer to Christ and is something we should do.

Grew up a very proud protestant and now I'm a catechuman in the Orthodox church. He's 100% right. The watering down, horrible music, lackluster attitudes, terrible meaningless sermons etc are why I quit trying to find a protestant church and wandered into my Orthodox church out of curiosity. I knew I was home from the first service. Christ is risen!

Last night at the Catholic church that I attend. 116 Catholics received the sacrament of Confirmation. The renewal of their baptism.

I converted from Orthodox to Protestantism several years ago and it was the absolute worst mistake I could have ever made in my life. I was constantly harassed, traumatized and felt hopeless with the state of those churches. I have recently returned back to my original Orthodox faith and couldn’t be more at peace and hopeful once again.
