For those who don't understand the first one: Feeling warm/extreme heat in extremely cold environments is a sign of hypothermia. Eventually your body will feel so hot that you take off all your clothes, going crazy from the heat you think you feel but in reality you're very cold and then if you don't get help you freeze to death.

Those looking for an explanation for the first one;

While it's fair to assume that the twist of the story is that the speaker has hypothermia, another illness related to mountains is Altitude sickness, which, in more severe cases, can manifest as giggling or constant grinning without reason. This is because your brain is starting to lack oxygen.

Notice how the speaker says they're giddy.
