Multiple reports suggest that Israel’s spy agency Mossad placed explosives in thousands of Hezbollah pagers. They subsequently detonated, and according to Lebanon’s health ministry, at least 12 people were killed, and at least 2,750 are in hospital.

Is Israel behind the attack? What does this mean for tensions between Lebanon and Israel - could Israel find itself fighting a war on two fronts?

The Spectator’s assistant online editor Angus Colwell is joined by Paul Wood, former BBC foreign correspondent and Spectator contributor.

You almost sound surprised the sovereign state of Israel claims the right to defend itself against terrorism. Which seems to be reasonable considering Hamas' actions on october 7th, and Hezbollah's happily joining their criminal friends the next day.

The issue is not whether the UK's contribution is important or not. The issue is whether the UK is using British resources to support a criminal, genocidal, apartheid regime, thereby showing moral cowardice and degeneracy.
