This was an awesome video. Glad you took the time to put it together. 5 years ago I became vegetarian for the animals and environment. I never noticed any health benefits. After finding out how horrible the dairy industry is I became vegan. Since then I have less respiratory issues, less sinus infections and my eczema cleared up. So now it’s about the animals AND my health. #veganforlife

This is what I love about Derek. He is never judgmental or defensive in his veganism. I honestly cannot say the same thing about his direct peers.

Yesss 🙌🏼 Derek you stated this SO SO well. I’ve been vegan for over 12 years now, am thriving and I’m never going back. I healed the my ailments which used to hold me back in life. I’ve had three wonderfully healthy vegan pregnancies and all my children have been thriving healthy vegans since conception. It’s so true what you said, that since the vegan movement is growing so fast, there are bound to be more and more people that come and go. It just comes with the territory and as this happens, people do love to highlight on those who stop being vegan. And the loads of people who are thriving for a long time and have amazing testimonials, tend to not be highlighted as much. I’ve seen my fair share of people stop being vegan over the years and am now really used to it but I do believe as veganism grows, more and more plant based doctors will be coming out able to help people heal their issues confidently through plant based means. ❤️keep on being you, you’re so awesome.

I've been vegan for almost 4 years and at 56 years old can say with total honesty that I've never felt better. I originally went vegan solely for ethical reasons and the health benefits were an unexpected bonus. I actually take my shirt off on the beach now for the first time in my life :)

I'm so grateful for all the vegans here who take care of their health and are good examples of vegans for non vegans to see. Vegan for life!

I was a vegan for 2 years, but had to give up due to developing severe PMDD. It left me constantly suicidal for 10 days each month and it was living torture. I stuck it out for as long as I could before going back to eating meat and dairy products. It wasn't a decision I took lightly. I identified as a vegan and the thought of giving up who I was was heartbreaking. I even got so far as to consider a hysterectomy to solve the PMDD, but decided as a last ditch attempt to try meat first and see what happened. My PMDD disappeared immediately and has never come back. Before people judge me for 'not doing it right', I ate a diet very similar to what Derek eats. I didn't do anything extreme. I didn't eat junk food, or sugar. I cooked everything from scratch, I drank plenty of water, smoothies, juices, all whole, natural foods. When it as clear it wasn't working for me I started experimenting with different fat contents/iron contents/protein contents/higher fruit diet/higher leafier greens..there wasn't anything I didn't try. My blood work was fine. I even reached out to vegan nutritionists but nobody could help me. Instead of taking my own life, I chose to let go of veganism. I really miss being vegan and it was a really special time in my life, but I believe that each one of us is different. Our bodies absorb and digest things in different ways. Given my own experience I believe that a small number people aren't able to be vegan due to their makeup. It's not a cop out saying this..it's just based on what I've seen.

What originaly put me on this diet was a bad reaction to antibiotics and a really horrible diet. I developed psoriasis from head to toe and I had issues with my digestion. I literally could not move for four months because of the excruciating amount of pain on my skin and not being able to poop. Lol. I also lost alot of money because I was unable to work. I have been vegan for four months now and my psoriasis is alsmost completely gone and my digestion is working great again. I feel like I am getting my life back after a year of suffering with my bad health.

I’ve heard you mention “healing your gut” several times but I don’t think you have a video on it. Would you be able to talk more about the gut and steps to heal it? #amm

Me and my 12 year old daughter just had our 3 year veganniversary.  I thought it prudent to get our blood tests done to see how we are doing (and to go 'I told you so!!' to the annoying pearl clutching family members).  I am thrilled to say we are both in excellent health!!  My protein.. which I don't pay attention to like at all was like 1 point high!  My B12 was over 100 over the minimum.. my daughter's 300 over!! My cholesterol falls into the 0-19yr old category, I'm 42!!  I tell you, while I just knew we eat healthfully and there shouldn't be a problem, I was still nervous about it.  Also btw... I've lost 50lbs too!! Woot woot!

I’ve been on this vegan journey for 12 years. And each year I feel better and better. I still struggle with certain things like insomnia. I’m not perfect. But I’ve never once thought animal products are going to lead to any better health than i feel right now. Like you said, it’s about so much more than just food. AMAZING VIDEO!!

Damnit Derrick!!! Why do you always have to be so down to earth, always keeping it real, never over complicating things, and all while never bashing anyone or having a negative attitude towards anything!! Thank you so much for all the amazing content and always keeping it positive. And yeah the vegan life completely changed my life for the better, and thats definitely the way I want to keep it!!

I started being vegan on August 20th of this yr. I'm very strict, oil-less/sugarless/somewhat gluten free. Quit coffee too. I mainly did this because I developed psoriasis and I'm happy to say that I've seen great improvement. It's almost gone!! I've lost 20lbs, my acne has stopped etc. I'm loving life right now. I receive a lot of negative feedback from co-workers and friends, but I'm don't really have to listen to anyone.... haha!!

Thanks dude. So much negativity and doubt lately. Its hard to keep confident when so many people are wavering in the vegan community. This video helps. Keep up

I have IBS and I think the vegan diet helps in a lot of ways, but always knowing what to eat ( depending on what kind of IBS the person has). I also practise rock climbing, and I feel great, still getting better every day. If people from Argentina, one of the main consumers and producers of meat, is getting vegan, I don´t see why the rest of the world can´t. Cheers Derek

The people that left probably aren't good at cooking whole foods from scratch and their meals didn't turn out as expected so they go back to eating frozen pizza. I am glad I took a cooking course in college and working as a dietary cook for 20 years and gradually reducing meat/dairy over the last 10 years really made my transition alot easier. Im in it for the long term to reap the long term benefits.

Thank you for spreading a message about the underlying reason for these drastic diet changes people seem to make (myself included at one point).

My relationship with food has dramatically changed since becoming vegan. It’s crazy how dirty/gross I felt when I’d eat too much cheese, milk, and animal fat. I’d restrict my meals with tiny portions, weighing everything and putting it into MyFitnessPal. That’d last for about a month, but then I’d binge for 2-3 months and gain all the weight and then some back...Then try it ALL OVER AGAIN.

When I became vegan, the first day I tried measuring everything like I had been used to. I was hungry all day! But I told my sis about it (who got me into veganism btw) and she told me not to limit my food, to eat as much as I wanted and to stop counting cals on an app. I did what she said, and I’m now 7 months in, 25 lbs down, lowered my triglycerides, LDL and upped my HDL. I feel better than ever, and I don’t restrict myself. I went through a “junk food vegan” phase and I surprisingly gained 0 lbs, although I did feel more sluggish. So I’ve eased back into WFPB which has helped my overall well-being and I love it! Best decision I’ve ever made! 🌱

Btw sorry for the long comment...but I love your channel! Keep up the good work 🙏🏼💪🏼
