It’s like you say, never leave the room when changing water and acclimating fish. If there was less fish in or an air stone it wouldn’t have happened. So sad, but mistakes happen

That’s OK we all make mistakes! And most importantly, we learn from them! ❤ I had a similar experience when cleaning a 30 gallon aquarium I had over 200 guppies when I put them in the tank the first couple of days they were fine, but there was a spike, and they all died

A okay fish keeper records their fish.
A great fish keeper admits their mistakes.

:( I’m sorry Luke

Learned the hard way to always use an air stone in a small transfer bucket, if the fish ever have to sit for more than a minute they need a stone

That’s so sad:(. I never thought I’d feel bad for fish suffocating until I learned how smart they actually are from your channel.

Accountability man 👏

It sucks and I'm sorry they ended up passing away. Mistakes happen and the only thing you should do is be accountable for your mistakes.

You didn't have to post about this here. You have so many fish we might not have noticed. You could have said anything happened with those fish, but you told us the truth.

I wish more people and companies were like you.

I have a bunch of alarms because my bad memory lol I get what it's like to forget to set one and having to pay for it just mintues after it should have gone off.

I know you will take this mistake and turn it into a lesson well learned. You're a wonderful person

A similar thing happened to me during a heatwave this year. A bacteria bloom appeared overnight after a water change, and I lost all of my fish except for one pea puffer. 2 others did initially survive but then died the next day. I had to do a full deep clean, including a bleach wash for my substrate and ornaments.

It’s really good of you to admit mistakes, especially as a content creator. A lot of people brush it under the rug. You could’ve just not mentioned it and we’d be none the wiser, but instead you made sure to say you made a mistake and how you made it, and it’s proof to us that you care about the fish and feel bad about what happened. I always tell people “failure is learning”, so good on you for that ❤

I got my first pet fish last week after a flowerhorn in my home is recovering from a necrotic ulcer under my intervention.

I got a ranchu with a kink in the lower back and it was pointed downwards when relaxed. I wanted to give it a good life.

It's mouth was aligned with the ground. It had no feeding issues and it was always hungry. Other than mobility issues, it was healthy.

It ran out of oxygen and the carbon dioxide level built up to twice the level I've ever measured in the flowerhorn's tank.

I turned off the aerator in the flat tupperware container cos it was too loud.

Worst of all I got a meter that measures oxygen levels, and I knew it's oxygen levels was low a few hours I brought it home.

I also have a carbon dioxide test kit.
But I didn't use them to go through the reasons why it was scrambling along the edges of the water surface.

It was my fault it passed this way.

I feel your loss.

You definitely taught me something new today, should I ever own goldfish. The fact that you even knew immediately what you did wrong shows the knowledge you have. Much respect!

Gotta get those USB chargable portable airpumps my dude! Huge props for showing mistakes to the public, I really apprecaite seeing this type of thing even if it's sad and something everyone can wish didn't happen, it's the reality of husbandry and especially fishkeeping!
I always say... if you struggle with death.... don't get fish!
