It’s because the tank is so small and if this is what your beta fish does then you should keep it in a separate tank. Your tank should also have hiding spots, plants and other toys (that are safe for the fish).

I’m being dead serious I just had someone give me a beta fish as a dance response. I have no idea how to take care of him. I have been doing tons of research on it and have him in a fish bowl with a cave and a plant and that’s it. Someone that know more about these fish and what they need please let me know. I want to give this little guy the best life possible

If your gonna put a betta in such small tank don't put anything else just the betta, a betta fish needs atleast a 2.5 gallon tank, thats barely a 2 gallon
