My FISH Died from this…

In today's video, I find a bunch of my pet fish DEAD at pond x! Recently its gotten pretty cold in florida and that led to many of my exotic fish dying, including a MASSIVE peacock bass, jaguar cichlids, snakeheads, and more... We also set our giant fish trap in the pond and caught out another invasive snakehead, and a native florida gar! Hopefully most of the fish survived in pond x and we can continue to grow its ecosystem!

I think the Peacock bass knew he was going to freeze to death so he made the funniest face he could think of and held it until the end. He wanted us all to know he was a funny guy like that.

This is a damn shame that you lost so many fish.. can I share some advice? Being from south Western Australia where it’s stupid hot in summer and below 0 in winter add a fountain to move the water around it will help regulate the water temperature a bit better to cope with this stuff.

It's nice to hear. We're part of your family. You're a friend from Canada Shane

I can see that the water level in the pond is above the level of the drainage culverts. Some of the fish may have survived inside the culverts where the earth kept them warm inside.

I live in Pennsylvania and have my own ponds. We have goldfish, kol, channel cats, blue gill, and large mouth bass. When the water drops in temp the fish will stop eating and go dormant. For the most part they winter well. But the real cold snaps can still take a toll. So the reason you're fish aren't eating isn't necessarily a bad thing. They may be at the bottom where the water will actually be warmer.

The thing coming out of the Peacock Basses mouth was its swim bladder, you see them pop out all the time when deep sea fishing.

Love your videos mate. I do same thing catching invasives in creeks and lakes of Sydney Australia. I notice you throw some fish back, Recommend setting up a feeder fish pong so you can keep them all and use to feed the predator pond

The peacock bass has it stomach out, which suggest that it probably experienced barotrauma, somebody mustve been fishing there

aww poor things. i’ve felt so bad for all the animals in the cold lately. it’s storming in california over here and can’t help but think of it. if you can make a smaller fish trap i’d love to see some of the babies of the pond!

I live in Northern NY, the fish in our 1/4 acre pond won't eat when the temperatures drop, that's probably why they aren't coming to eat.

A better way to dispose of dead fish is to bury them in the soil. As they decompose they will provide replenishing nutrients for the soil. It’s much better to do that than put them back in the water where they can spread disease and cause other problems.

Love your vids. Sorry for the fish you lost, but on the flip side, the amount is minuscule in comparison to the amount of fish you have saved. I enjoy all your content. Keep it up! 👊

So sorry to see what has happened, Bobby! I heard someone say the other day that it is Mother Nature taking out the species that shouldn't be there but it is still so very very sad! Thanks for sharing though!
