My Blood Sugar Results From Eating Ice Cream Every Day

As I’ve experimented with CGMs, I’ve learned how much physical activity and food are connected. That got me thinking. How much is the timing and intensity of exercise directly connected to food? Can I have my ice cream and eat it too? Let’s find out.

Now, I’m not suggesting you break your healthy habits in exchange for sweets. I can see it in the comments now: “Kevin wants us to eat ice cream!” If you’re able to avoid sugary, processed foods, keep up those great habits. But for most humans, there are some unhealthy foods we still crave.

It’s okay to cheat every now and again when it comes to food or to reward yourself with a treat on special occasions. For some people, never being able to eat pizza again would pull a lot of joy from their life. For me, that craving is ice cream. For this experiment, I wanted to determine just how much I could get away with when I paired my poorer eating habits and cravings with physical activity.

Eating ice cream everyday is what got me pre diabetes. Ice cream is a treat it means it’s not meant to be eaten a daily and a dessert, so you should never eat it alone alsways right after eating rich fat protein food

While poor insulin sensitivity is unhealthy, why are higher blood sugar spikes? It seems to me the more important metric would be the area under the curve of each spike, representing how long it took your body to return to baseline and respond to insulin secretion, rather than the maximum value of the curve, which would be more related to digestion and absorption.

hey man, curious if you support my hypothesis: just thinking about how you can be productive for 10+ hours back in med school day, and what i notice is that perhaps CARDIO plays a big role on it, do you think so? Idk many productive people i know also have above average cardio performance.

I'm wondering what the optimal time after eating is the best time to exercise

I have noticed that my blood sugar spikes with exercise - for example, if I go on a run fasted, my blood sugar spikes. I haven't done much research, but briefly read that intense exercise raises some hormones (stress hormones) that raise your blood glucose.

You're still in a helthy range. I'm the same way. Never higher than 120 on average. The highest reading I've had was 135.

Maybe your results are because your body secretes glucose to help you with your workout which only adds to your overall level

7:33 or you are aging... :p JK JK

8:22 It might be cause of the higher lactate levels in zone 5 (compared to zone 2) causing insulin resistance.
