// 2023 CHANNEL UPDATE //

I’ve moved on from Mobility Mastery (self fascia release) in order to focus on teaching Kinetix, my method of root cause discovery for pain and dis-ease that involves partner fascia release as a “diagnostics” (and regeneration) tool. Kinetix is a complete scientific methodology that I teach to friends, partners and professionals alike inside The Kinetix Academy.

My other primary focus will be the launch and growth of a new podcast and Substack community called The Human Freedom Project.

// NEW CONTENT ON YOUTUBE //

Sometime in 2023 I will return to YouTube with HFP podcast episodes and content created to help you know and understand yourself as a whole organism made of body, soul and spirit. This content will feature the Kinetix methodology, pain science, fascia secrets I’ve learned from 15+ years in private practice, neuroscience and evolving beyond the brain, trauma and the body, and more! I’m excited to go on this new adventure with you.

*********** // VIDEO DESCRIPTION // **********

Release WHAT?! Yep, that’s right. Today (inspired by a YouTube subscriber asking a question about tongue tie during my last Rapid Fire Q&A) I am showing you how to release your TONGUE FASCIA.

There’s a TON of fascia here. Your tongue is made up of eight different muscles! Each of these muscles has a ton of fascia of course, and where the muscles attach is a fascial cluster. Four of these muscles attach only to one another (rather than a bone like most muscles in the human body).

Then there are the nerves that connect tongue to ear, and tongue to mandible and face (which of course connect elsewhere).

Also important to think about is the LYMPH drainage of this area, because the tongue actually drains into your deep cervical lymph nodes. If your tongue fascia becomes super restricted it may not be able to drain. Implications for mouth infections, bacterial overgrowth or toxicity along the entire gastrointestinal tract which starts in the mouth? I think there are many…

So I encourage you to combine this release with my lymph drainage for the neck, subclavicular lymph ducts and if you’re really going for it my self abdominal fascia release, which, when combined, open up the critical lymph channels in your upper body.

You really have to watch the video on this one to know how to release your tongue. You can follow along with me (and feel free to laugh at me and/or yourself!)

This is definitely the weirdest thing I’ve ever demonstrated on YouTube. You’re welcome! Ha.

No seriously...this could definitely help a lot of you, so if you’re the one struggling with TMJ pain, jaw clicking, tongue tension/pain, anterior neck pain or under the jaw pain (in the soft tissue) or perhaps tongue tie...then give this a try and let me know how it goes!

Share your experiences below, and let’s all have a laugh at ourselves :)

You are spot on with this video. I had a holistic doctor tell me years ago that jaw pain comes from not speaking your heart. I needed these exercises a year ago but better now than never. Thanks for the post.

I loved it! I have had TMJ for 25 years. In all of my research I have never had anyone help me explore my tongue. I felt a difference after doing the release work! Aside from that I feel like I actually am much more intimate with this body part. Thank you so much!

I had my tongue tie released about 2 months ago and have been learning a ton about the mouth, palate, tongue, breathing, and sleep. I've also had a bunch of exercises to do, often when I'm driving in the car. I highly recommend learning more about myofunctional therapy, orthotropics/mewing, tongue tie and how it effects palate. Diet and how we chew as well as tongue placement and how we breathe all effect our palate and our sleep. I just listened to a book called "Sleep, interrupted" and it taught me a lot but he didn't go into why our palates are getting smaller, tongue ties, or what we can do about it all. It's this big chain reaction! Narrow palate (tongue tie, thumb sucking, bottles, pacifiers, pureed and processed foods, nutritional deficiencies) cause narrow airway, which causes sleep hypopnea and apnea, which causes grinding and clenching to wake yourself up a bit, which causes tmjd, neck pain, headaches, bone loss as well as these growths called torus. I still have recovery to do with my tongue, but will try to release some fascia this way as well. I also have a sleep study coming up and will possibly be doing a type of palate expansion called vivos dna.

Thank you Elisha. This is an awesome video. So useful for us singers. I’m sharing it with my other singing friends. Tongue tension can really get in the way of vocal production. Not a weird topic for singers and actors. I also experienced oesophageal spasm from eating cake too quickly and had to spend the night in hospital. I’m sure it’s all linked.

Hi Elisha! I watch your videos all the time! When I am trying a self release technique it usually feels so good that I continue the release when the next video starts & never get ro comment. This one is easier because I am close to my keyboard not on the floor. Thank you much for all the information that you share! I love nerding out about fascia with you 😁

Thanks for enlightening me to this topic, I found nice relaxation in my face and a crease between my eyebrows relaxed after doing the tongue palpitation plus attempting to release fascia from my frenulum under my tongue. Going slow moving the tissues under the area of pressure. Just found out about the connection between tongue to the palete being the natural posture and how tongue ties inhibit the tongue from reaching the roof of the mouth. "The Breathe Institute" on youtube have great videos on this topic, they mention fascia but their solution is exercise and release from surgical means, I suspect people like me who has good tongue mobility but not great can benefit from tongue fascial release.

Been struggling with this for months -FYI swallow issues can be due to posture, and tongue posture, tongue tie, and dysfunctional compensation patters, jutting head forward. Focus on hyoid muscles, tongue release, and the proper suckle reflex, think how w feed as babies. Being bottle fed will have a large impact on us as a adult far as TT, propr swallow etc

That was great! I will do that for about a week and will see how it will goes.
You explained actually everything which I was thinking about for a long time.
I have this weird feeling on my left side of the face which I am feeling it’s coming from my Neck tension and sometimes this feeling is extending to the roof of my mouth. I tried different things and I tried different doctors but at the end I started to do yoga... it’s much better now but still it’s coming back when I have a but if stress or when I’m in cold outside.

thanks so much the relationship between unspoken feeling and the tension feels really right to me, even so hard to accept, )))

Life changing. I've had really bad tension in my tongue and neck/throat for months.
I haven't been able to speak properly or strongly for 3 months until I tried your exercises.

So interesting, I've been instinctually doing this type of stretch (without the sound, lol) and so glad I found your video!

I get tension in the side of my neck and jaw and even into the side of my tongue muscles and underneath it.
