Reverse Side In Pool and Snooker | Pool Tutorial | Pool School

In this video we look at how to play reverse side in pool and snooker. This pool tutorial covers how to play the shot, where to strike the cue ball and how the spin effects the path of the ball. It also explains why it is called reverse side and the effects of running side and check side. The shot is a combination of screw back and side spin altering the path of the cue ball after it bounces off a cushion.

The shots are carried out on a 7ft UK 8 ball table but most of the same principles apply to both american pool and snooker.

Brilliant. THE clearest / informative video that explains using side. I hate the shots due to the angles and throw but that's what practice is for!!

I really appreciate your tutorials cause most of us players needs to master our position play & we thank you a lot for this video.

Thank you for all your videos.
I have just got a dining pool table like your old one. I used to play at my local club a few years ago and lost the love for the game and now its back again. Watched all your videos to get the fundamentals back and its rare that I miss a ball now.
Great videos very illustrative and informative. Hope you bring a video out that can help add value to my game.
Thanks again👍

Excellent as always. A very clear explanation. Didn’t realise that reverse side accelerates the cue ball - would explain why I sometimes run out of position when playing these shots and pool positional play is determined by such small margins that it is very useful to bear in mind. Keep up the good work!

Hi pool school. I know it might be a big ask but could you do a video on breaking as hard as tom cousins? I have developed my break over the years and found a few things good like a loose back arm and wrist plus a long backswing. I'd still enjoy more power though I just don't know where to find it

Quality as always. Just a question, that always confuses me with side/English...Do you just point the cue tip, or do you line up the whole cue to the spot you're aiming at on the cue ball? With forward and draw, this is easy, but I just ellivate or lower my bridge hand, but keep aiming straight. Never really know what to do when playing side.

In the shot you showed at the start of the video could you have used top left to achieve the same thing?

Also I have a table at home I think it’s just under 5 foot. It’s great value, about £50 but of course it’s slightly unlevel and the size of the balls mean I can’t get much spin and they don’t bounce off the cushion much. Do you still think it would improve my game on a full size?

How do you manage to get so much reverse spin in the ball no matter how much I try I cannot manage to get the cue ball nr the top rail for the black?

I got it all wrong lol.
Why is it that if i put right english on the cue ball after hitting a cushion the angle widens, but here the angles widens if I hit it versa?
