Trying the Efren Reyes Full Table Reverse Bank Shot | Your Average Pool Player

Показать описание
Ask any pool player who the all-time greatest champion is, and they'll give you one name: Efren "The Magician" Reyes. He's got 70 International titles to his name, and according to anyone who's met him, Efren is the nicest dude around. He was so dominant for so long because he was unbelievably creative with his shots. You were never sure if he was going to play safe or go 5 rails for position.

In the Efren Reyes Farewell Tour, he had the option to take an easy corner pocket shot for the win, but decided to take a 3-rail reverse bank up and down the full length of the table twice. The result astounded everyone.

The track used in the video is 'Rest' by Otis McDonald

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the high quality of research, editing, and execution required to make this vid. Top notch...

Only Efren Reyes has a nerve to do that kind of shots in crucial moments, tournaments and even championship games

The fact that he made that shot on the first try to win the tournament is utterly amazing. There are many greats but only one Efren Reyes.

I just simply can't stop wondering, how on Earth Efren even has knowledge of so intricate details of physics behind the ball movements. He simply SEES into the future and knows how will the ball react and behave when hit at a certain speed and where it will end up. Even then he doesn't THINK, he needs no time, he just calls it, aims and boom. Done. He just SEES the shot. Never ever going to understand how he does that. I mean, after all the research people do, after engineering, mathematical calculations, physics, slow motion analysis and even after all that to they can't for sure know what happens before it's played. They simply can't SEE what the outcome will be, no matter how good they are at the table. They can't see a shot in advance, yes you can replicate a shot. Even I can after a certain amount of shots. But only AFTER Efren has done it, and you know it to be possible. But for Efren it's somehow different. He knows it can be done without thinking. He knows the outcome, without trying multiple times. The guy will never stop to amaze me.

Chess = brains
Pool = brains + physics + dexterity

You are far from "Average" and actually pretty good. Just shows how amazing he actually is to pull this shot off with confidence.

I've been trying his point shot off the side pocket to make a corner ball and although I've come close I'm about 30 years away from mastering it. Mind you I've been playing for 30+ years already lol. Efren is simply the best when it comes to mechanics, consistency and being humble. I thoroughly enjoyed every time he beat Strickland. Efren is incredible generous too with supporting his entire family with his winnings and loves the simple life like playing cards. It's a pleasure to watch him play even if it's in his home country in the Philippines. You'll see him play local guys in flip flops, shorts and a tee-shirt because he's THAT genuine.

I been watching ur videos since the first imitating shot video, and I gotta say they're getting better and better. I like the humor you bring, educating on pool and now you're video editing are getting better with better visual effects on how the ball works👏👏👍

*"Efren for president"* LOL

This is funny cause this reminded me of the time when his fame was at it's peak.
He had a lot of offers to be a government official and he explicitly said in television, and i translate the quote and paraphrase:
*"I will NOT use my fame to gain a position of power in the government"*
So yeah, Efren for president~!

The effort you out into this video is so amazing plus the fact you attempted the shots at 10.

You're first attempt was pure comedy. Literally the most perfect amateur attempt possible. I didn't get the ball off the table, but when I practiced I did scratch the white.

The science of collision was hardwired into Reyes when he was born.

That shot was both astonishing and sad, we'll never see him play again. Who's to say we'll have another Magician in our lifetime.

Efren once said that he learn to do gutsy shots like this by observing billiard amateurs or beginners, when they would sometimes fluke a shot or just random shot that actually works and he would imitate it and practice it.

The attempt one is a trick shot on it’s own. Hopefully someone will recreate it !!!
