The fundamental problem with apologists claiming that a universe couldn't create itself is that we have never seen a universe be created, and everyone with any knowledge on the subject is sensible enough to admit they don't know.

I've noticed that apologists like this often say that scientists say something they didn't as an alternative to their favourite deity, then point out the problem with this thing they say scientists say that they didn't.

A singularity is the same thing as Dark Matter and Dark Energy in science. There are somethings that cannot be explained by the current hypothesies. So instead of saying we observed something that makes no sense, we put a "place marker" label on it to allow us to discuss it without ignoring it in seen phenomenon. So a singularity is when the physics we know breaks down and the answers start becoming infinity in parts of the equation. So while the universe is said to have had singularity in its early existence, we also use singularity to describe what is beyond the event horizon of Black Holes.

No scientist would ever claim to have the answers to everything, first because we inhabit such a small section of this universe and second, the speed of light is a limiting factor.

I love his claim that the universe is designed, because when humans (things that design things) try to mimic nature we fail at doing so. He is making the argument that we are incapable of designing the things he insists are obviously designed. We are the only creatures we know of that are capable of design. If we encounter something that we cannot design that is not evidence of design. In fact if anything. It is evidence to the contrary.
