Why is it that Tyrion always leaves last, giving Tywin that opportunity to say "Not you." every time.

One does not simply have peace when they execute Eddard Stark.

This part in the show can be a little misleading if you havent also read the books. When Tywin tells Tyrion "Because you're my son"  The look from Tyrion and also the scenario in general, gives the impression that Tyrion is amazed to get some respect or maybe just a fraction of fatherly love. And Tyrion is dumbfounded by it. With the books of course you get to read Tyrions inner thoughts. He was actually pissed and disgusted at his father, because Tywin is showing that he doesnt think they will ever see Jaime alive and so Tywin is just writing Jaime off. Tyrion knows that his father would never give him any kind of respect or even acknowledge he's his son as long as Jaime is in the picture. Without Jaime, Tyrion is the only way to continue Tywin's legacy. Which is the most important thing to Tywin.

Tywin might have the coolest armor in the entire show.

At thanksgiving dinner last year I knocked my cup over and said "There's your peace". My mom was like wtf?

I like how when Tyrion knocks the cup over, Tywin turns around to look, but then is like, "Oh, Tyrion has a point. No need to get involved." and turns back around.

Somebody should make a 1 hour mix of Tywin repeating the lines "You're my son!" and "You're no son of mine!".
It'll be the ultimate emotional rollercoaster of pride & depression!

I liked this scene in the book better, simply because tyrion realized that tywin was just sucking up to him because he figured they wouldnt get jamie back and tyrion would be the heir.

The tragedy is that Tyrion is the greatest of Tywin's children. Intelligent, verbose, well read, prudent, clever, and observant. Even as a dwarf in Westeros, he could have brought the treachery of his family to heel and raised them to greatness, solidifying Tywin's dream. If only his father would have loved and respected him. We get a glimpse of that here, when his back is forced to the wall and he has no choice but to acknowledge his son's talent. Which is why this scene always breaks my heart. It's a glimpse into what could have been.

I love how their father-son relationship healed forever after that scene.

Feel so bad for Kevan Lannister. He only wants to preserve his house and preserve peace and stability.

"Madness and Stupidity" describes season 8 very well

The writing in this show honestly won me over, it's so human while also being suitably dramatic and uniquely slick. Love it

I just love how everyone's bickering in the background and Tywin is just quietly seething, then he roars, "They have my son!" suddenly, everyone goes quiet.

Tywin is portrayed by actor Charles Dance. Very astute choice, I think.

“The best villains are the ones that actually make sense”

Tywin was an atrocious and uncaring father, which ultimately killed him. However, he was also incredibly wise, intimidating, and strong. If he was a general and not a father, we may not even consider him an antagonist given his brilliant strategic planning. I actually miss Tywin because of how gifted he was at battle and negotiation
