Someone said "should women be blamed for their sexual assault if their shirt is too tight? Shouldnt they wear modest clothing".

Nah, not in my opinion. If you listen to the whole video we talk about RESONABLE steps to your safety. Now with the example above.

You have a hard time convincing me that sexually revealing clothing leads to more sexual assaults. In fact, even in the most sexually conservative countries, rape and sexual assaults are extremely prelavent if not more so than other places.

But if we're saying someone is partially to blame because too much cleavage was showing or their shirt was too tight and they should wear more modest clothes than what's the next logical step? Should they wear burkas to not get raped as to minimize their chances? If they don't are they partially to blame by that logic? See how ridiculous it's starting to sound? Any idea taken too far becomes poisonous.

Too me, this stance is unreasonable and doesn't qualify as a freedom worth giving up just to feel a tad bit safer (even if there is no science to back up that the clothing change leads to less).

Sure I could have carried an ar-15 with me which would have prevented a robbery, but should I also need to carry so much just to feel safe? Should I be blame if I don't? We have to find a decent line between security and freedom, throwing away too much for the other isn't worth it imo

My father once told me:
"If you're on crosswalk and the green light is on, look for the cars. Because if you'll get hit, you will be right in the situation! But it's still your neck that is broken. So choose for yourself what is more important: being right or being safe"

I hate trying to have a conversation about rape prevention and someone shuts it down by calling it victim blaming. "We should teach people not to rape."... Well, yeah. But until everyone on the planet is good and trustworthy, we need to be able to talk about ways people can spot red flags, avoid situations, and know their rights and next steps if a worst case happens. We can do both. Teach people to not harm and teach people to avoid harm.

"An ounce of prevention saves a pound of cure" is one of these phrases I grew up hearing all the time

💯 I was falsely accused by a women at my school when I didn’t even know her . And yet everyone believed her and not me 😕. Finally she told the truth that year I contemplated suicide but luckily I made it

"Believe All VVomen" is the most cringiest line ever, while "You've Nothing To Fear If You're Innocent" is the most weakest argument ever.

“Blame & Responsibility are different things. Blame means that you are somehow culpable for this and therefore that’s it. Responsibility is talking about what you owe to yourself.” - Aba

This is a generation of people who expect others to be responsible and kind hearted people. But then dont expect themselves to do the same thing.

We overuse and demean a lot of words in today’s society

Imagine telling people to protect themselves can be seen as victim blaming or problematic, I swear to god, the lack of common sense in the world nowadays...

Sometimes words are used so much they lose their meanings.

Blame: the problem comes from you

Responsibility: the solution must come from you

Yess! Me and my friends talked about the same thing and they did not agree with me. But my point was if someone wants to hurt you they are are going to do it, your job is to make it hard for them.

Words like victim blaming, racism, and misogyny are used so often the weight they carried is gone

It's unbelievable that common sense is now regarded as "victim blaming".

I get that
But as a girl from Iran, in the case of sexual assault, covering yourself doesn't change much. Covering your entire body is literally in the law and still, this shit happens.
Sometimes people just do whatever they desire and then, hearing others say: well, what where you wearing? Where you careful?
That shit is a slap in the face.
It hurts.
Still I completely understand you logically.
The problem is that we need to have these conversations before anythings happens and not after that
I think that's the line between victim blaming and warning someone of the potential dangers.

This world is not sunshine and rainbows, and there's almost no way to stop a criminal before they commit the act. Protect yourself. Period.

In these times, it’s refreshing to have people like you speaking the truth when most people are content to go along with the crowd.

The saying “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me” is around for a reason...
