What to Say If You Were Fired | Job Hunting

What do you say if you've been fired from a job? Well at the end of the day, you have to tell the truth. The world is small and if you say you didn't get fired and you were fired, you're going to be found out and you can be considered a lot, which is worse than actually being fired for a reasonable reason. The thing about being fired is you want to somehow communicate the fact that there was a mutual lack of fit, because what you don't want to have happen is the person on the other side of the desk thinking, "This person could not be the fit for me. I could have this exact same problem." So as much as possible, you want to communicate the fact that this is what happened, this is how I'm going to ensure that this never happens in this company, and this is how we're going to work together so that this issue that I was fired for is never going to be a problem for you. If you were fired for doing something specific, the person is thinking, "Are they going to do it again? Is that going to be a problem within this organization?" So as much as possible, you want to communicate the fact that that problem doesn't exist in this current opportunity. So that is how you get out of and work around the question, "Were you fired from your previous job?"

Ive been fired 4 times in 37 years of working. that's life. its happens. the days of working 30 years for one employer are long gone.

Customer approached to me and insisted to tell her who is someone in the store to complain against my manager. I said that no one is above a manager. She said that must be someone else available, she insisted and I said that the only person besides him is assistant manager. She went to him and complained against my manager. Half hour later manager called me to fire me telling me that I should not say to customer who she can complain against manager.

I am looking for job for long now, dont know how to answer the question. Once I read advice not to say that I was fired, so I said I left, then why did you live. Once I said I was fired, then they did not want to hire me. What to say? Unfortunately, you can not say your manager was not right. Help.
