What do we say when we make a mistake?

Sometimes it's an expletive. (Did you you know the pronunciation of expletive is different in British and American English?)

In this video we look at some swear word alternatives and you'll learn two common phrasal verbs .

We also look at the expressions 'by mistake' meaning by accident and 'It's my fault'', meaning I accept responsibility and you'll see how we use them in English conversation.

You'll also see examples of the word fault as a countable and uncountable noun.

Make sure you subscribe to this YouTube channel. It's a great place to learn English.

I played this video to my students at school today. However, we analyzed the use of the present perfect and the simple past in your examples.

"Damn" is sometimes considered a very mild swear word in the US. A good alternative to using "damn" would be to use "darn. Such as "Oh darn!" or "Darn it!" or "Darn!" which is not bad at all! If I were around kids I'd use "darn" rather than "damn."
