So lucky to live in a time where this band exists.

Radiohead: let's make a well written and amazing sounding song
Also radiohead: let's release it *20 years later*

Radiohead is the type of band that can release B-sides 20 years late that are better than 99% of current band's best song.

“After years of waiting.”
C Minor Song. I’m speechless.
Thanks, lads. You’ve carried me through all of the toughest times in my 41 years. And it’s getting dark out there. We need Radiohead right now.

After 50 listens I can confirm that this song follows the typical Radiohead acceptance routine.

1st listen - yeah it’s alright. Not their best work but it’s great to hear something new.

5th listen - actually this song is really good. Can tell it’s a B side. But still… it’s good

50th listen - BEST SONG EVER. Why was this omitted from the album??!

Sounds like a mix between Go Slowly and There There. It's absolutely beautiful.

Feels good when a band puts out an old unreleased song from days past and it STILL manages to feel like it just came out today.

I always feel safest in radiohead songs - their music is timeless, absolute pure magic.

Just like the best Radiohead songs, this is a grower. Has a great Talk Show Host/Climbing Up The Walls vibe to it; also feels, sonically, as a transitional exercise: you can still hear some of the spirit of OKC, while at the same time sensing that they’re moving towards something more textural.

Radiohead’s b-sides are so good that many bands would probably kill to have them as lead singles.

Even the B-sides of Radiohead's B-sides are amazing

Absolutely mind-boggling that they’d keep something this good under wraps for so long…!

Lyrics:
If you're in a forest, out of your mind
Harpies in the branches breaking your arms
If you're stuck in rainbows, shattering glass
Where you miss the moment, watching it pass

If you say the word

If you say the word
If you say the word
If you say the word

When you spend your life wishing on a twinkling star

When you forget how lucky you are
Buried in rubble, sixty foot down

If you say the word
If you say the word
If you say the word
If you say the word
Then I'll come running

When you change your friends like changing your clothes

If you say the word
If you say the word
If you say the word
If you say the word
If you say the word
If you say the word
Then I'll come running
I'll come running

Just a ridiculous band. So goddamn good and yet so seemingly simple. The way these guys build a song is just so beautiful and painstaking. Just so much effort and care into each track and yet it comes out sounding so effortless and perfect.

Hearing Thom’s voice from that time, paired with the glockenspiel. I’ve been transported. The background acoustic rhythm and electric leads with those chorus hits. Damn I know what I’m listening to all day.

That warm acoustic guitar stirs the air like a furnace and that strange electric riff nips like frost bite and burns like neon and sets your clueless mind in motion as your restless legs carry you down dark and derelict streets until cold and warm unify.

The chorus elevates you into a friendlier terrain but soon your left back into barren verses freezing yet content and suddenly, there’s a place to go, a home you remember might still exist.

“When you forget how lucky you are” is sung like he really means it. He goes lower when you expect him to match the melody and go higher. It’s chilling and makes you focus on what he’s saying. A quiet burst of morbid gratitude.

“When you change your friends like changing your clothes”. Friends used for a specific purpose, as a style, and then discarded.

I can't wait for The Smile's new record, and hopefully, we'll get a new Radiohead record by 2023.
