I'm still using my Surface Pro 6 on a daily basis and I absolutely love it.

Yes, I’ve got a macbook pro and and an iPad pro and I’m really considering keeping the macbook pro as a workstation, but selling my iPad pro, and buying a surface pro 11 for working on the move. iPad pro as a replacement computer for traveling is a not an option.

If it fits your use case, your apps can run as native ARM code or under emulation, and you use a screen pen for daily work, nothing else comes close. It's a pity other PC makers haven't popularized detachable tablets because it's a great form factor.

I just purchased the Oled version this morning. I'm upgrading from last year's Surface Pro. I love this form factor, and I'm looking forward to the upgrades! I have an IPad Pro and a MacBook Pro, but the Surface is my favorite!

How is the screen on the base model? Is it good enough to watch a movie on?

To be fair, Microsoft Teams is one of the worst pieces of software ever made and is an INSANE processor hog and battery killer. It sucks bad.

The only worry, is ARM. I hope it gains traction this time, but it has one major issue... AMD. the new CPU is as powerful at the same wattage, and has no application limitations.

Seeing a review of someone that loves the Surface Pro for finally becoming what it was designed to do, makes me SO wish Microsoft would bring back the Surface Book and put the SD X Elite in it! This would finally realize what the Surface Book was meant to be (even more than the Surface Pro IMO). Just think about it?!? A full and proper laptop that you could detach to become an awesome, no-compromise tablet! The problem w/ the Surface Book was always having to use a x86 mobile processor in the screen half; weak processing w/ not great battery. Not so if the X Elite is used. The Surface Book design coupled w/ the X Elite would be jackpot for Microsoft!

My biggest computer purchasing mistake was a M1 12.9-inch iPad Pro with 2TB storage and magic keyboard. The hardware is fantastic but iPoor OS cripples it to run in a locked ecosystem of mostly mediocre smart phone style apps. It doesn't even have a desktop class browser due to Apple's awful web kit. I object to paying a lot of money for a tablet computer when I don't have complete freedom the sideload the apps I want to use or cannot access the hypervisor to run virtual machines. I've been using Windows 11 arm on a Windows Dev kit 2023 for past 20 months. It started as an experiment, but I loved having a Windows computer that was silent and responsive, as all the apps I need have native arm64 binaries. It even runs many of the games I like, and is especially good at retro game emulation, as several emulators, such as Dolphin, Duck Station and PPSSPP have Windows 11 arm64 binaries. I plan to replace my iPad Pro with a Surface Pro 11 OLED model when 5G becomes available later this year. It has double the CPU and GPU performance of the Windows Dev Kit with its Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 processor, so everything I run on the Dev Kit will run with ease on the Surface Pro 11. If you want a competitively priced x64 Windows Tablet which can also game, the Minisforum V3 tablet with Ryzen 7 8840U processor, 32GB RAM and 1TB storage is exceptionally good. It is similar in design to a Surface Pro with detachable tiltable keyboard, pen, and stand, but is around half the price for the equivalent specification.

Thanks for the video! I would love to see the comparison between Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 😊😊😊

Nothing like this device! Best of both worlds (tablet / laptop) for basic but still powerful use cases. Apple could certainly take a leaf out of Microsoft's book on this one. iPad can't touch it in this respect (*cough* iPadOS, to mention the most significant thing).

Great video! I bought an iPad looking for what a Surface can do, I’ve had 3 surface pro’s in the past and I really enjoyed them but battery and weight sucked compared to this thing.. I ran the IT at a library so it was perfect, but again battery was garbage…

Year ARM has limitations but battery is better, and it’s compatible with desktop apps that most need. (Google Drive is garbage, i mount drives and use Synologies for home use).. It’s perfect if you’re int he Microsoft Environment….

actually i think the surface pro x sq1 16gb would be sufficient, i have macbook pro M3 pro as my main driver, and use surface pro x with a new flex keyboard as the the ipad replacement. this combination is very cost effective

I ended up returning my surface laptop 7 - I had lots of graphic glitches, mainly around with using surface 2 dock and two monitors. Also, MS Teams (ARM version) had lots of issues., so much where only way to get into it was to uninstall/reinstall far too often. I also found my SL7 running warm with fan running full speed while docked and lid closed and sleeping far too often. Did you (or anyone else) come across any graphic glitches? Suspect this will get ironed out with software in coming months - but I don't see anyone else running into or posting about these issues.

That’s a serious watch tan line. I was getting there so I randomly switch mine when I’m driving so it can get back to matching lol

Yes, that was off the topic but still related to the video kinda lol

I just can't get over the glare. Microsoft NEEDS to add an antiglare coating on what is essentially an outdoor device

I am a long time iPad & Mac user. That being said, I have used a Surface Pro for work. The build quality is terrible. They do not last. I went through two of them. So, my work bought me a MacBook. The build quality is light years ahead of the Microsoft offering. This is true of the iPad too - superior compared to the Surface.
