The comparison of the price is off to me. You compare an surface pro 7 with I3 and 4gb of ram to a new surface pro 8 with I5 and 8gb ram. Take the price of the surface pro 7 with I5 and 8gb and the difference is definitely reasonable. (890€ (pro7) - 1100€ (pro8))

I do like the version 7 because of its portability and still good enough functions. Lack of micro SD and USB port A options are also decisive factor. However, what I really regretted for buying the version 7 was, as soon as I bought the version 7, the news about the version 7+ for public users came out 😅😅😅

UGH i got the surface pro 7 black friday 2020 because i NEEDED it for university (i'm an engineering major so a strong, portable 2-in-1 was a necessity), but it was lacking many things: smaller bezels, thunderbolt charging, rechargeable surface pen, 120hz refresh rate (sp7 screen flickers quite a bit), more overall power, etc. and NOW they release this in the middle of the fall semester for my broke ass to drool over :(

I bought my surface pro 7 last year for 700$ with pen and keyboard to replace my 8 year old Asus incase it finally gives out. But it's still kicking just has to stay plugged into see the screen (idky) but I take my surface 7 out and play stadia on it or do portable projects. Glad i jumped on this deal because the asking prices for the keyboard, mouse and pens sold separately go for hundreds ontop of retail for just the surface itself

Neither...
As a desktop user who also has a Surface the biggest downside to the Surface and the reason I still have to keep my desktop is that the Surface can only add 2 external monitors. My 7 yr old Dell PC can run 3 very big ones. With the Surface I'd have to use the small Surface monitor as my 3rd monitor which is a significant downgrade to what I've been using for over 10 years.
