Gen X latch key kid here. My parents left for work just as I was getting up to get ready for school and they didn't get home until about 2 hours after I did. Luckily, I had my grandma right down the road if I needed anything or was too sick to go to school.

Shout out to all the Gen X people who practically raised their millennial siblings in the absence of their boomer parents. We appreciate what you did ❤

"quiet quitting" is a term invented by the executives used to slander people who work what they're paid for at minimum wage

As a gen-x I feel appreciated that someone said it finally 😅 I was making dinner for my family at 9 years old

its not any form of quitting. its called doing *your* job, and not whoever decides to slack off that day's job+ yours

We were also the generation who dealt with landlords and forged our parents signatures on the younger kids permission slips.

"quiet quiting" means doing exactly what is in your job description and nothing more.

I'm tired of slaving away for nothing and then get threatened with being replaced because I can't handle the pressure anymore.

Started "quiet quiting" this week. Best decision I made in this job so far. Haven't had a thing said to me and I'm less stressed

Can we all appreciate the Mr. Deeds sneaky call back.

I'm gen x and fully support this quiet quitting stuff. Employers have taken advantage of people far too long. I worked for a Fortune 50 company for 20+ years, every day trying to go above and beyond, and it got me nothing. Your job / workplace is not your family. You are the only one looking out for urself. Don't listen to the uninformed and the haters.

I swear that sass in boomers tone is literally a mom talking to her teen boy about bad decisions

I really thought being an independent child and stepping up and taking care of the younger children was just how it was. My older siblings took care of me and kept me in line and I took care of my siblings. Having parents that cared and were around seems weird

Work ethic doesn't mean much when you consistently get overlooked for promotions and raises. And don't even get paid enough to afford school loans and home loans.

Bro, my grandmother always came home to an empty house as a child, so when she married my grandfather they had an agreement that at least one of them would be home for when the kids get off of school. Then my grandfather started a business out of his yard, so he was always home, and my mother got to do her favorite thing, and help my grandfather

I don’t think people realize that quiet quitting is what we like to call doing your job-

The LAYERS of jokes is something I really appreciate. It's not just one through line, it's several all with great payoffs. Bravo
