I learned is that it isn't really the eyelid twitching at all. It is the muscle that controls the eyelid . . . called the pretarsal muscle. That muscle has spasms. Since it is attached to the lids they move along with the muscle. Do this to stop it: take your finger apply pressure to the area where you feel movement. The pressure will help stop the spasm if you press hard enough when it is twitching!
