DISCLAIMERS:

ESTRANGEMENT AND ABUSE: When considering the possibility of reconciling with an emotionally and or physically abusive great care is required. Reconciling may only be possible if the abuser is willing to work with a family therapist. When there is abuse, individuals estrange out of necessity and self-preservation. Consider if it is safe to resume a relationship with an abusive family member without evidence that the abuser has changed or takes responsibility for their harmful actions.

These are all excellent suggestions. Stay strong! You are not alone. There are thousands of us. Deep breathing exercises help me stay present. With each breath out its like Im blowing softly on the petals of a flower. I imagine I can smell them on the inbreath. Also, pick some flowers or buy some. Open your curtains and brighten up your space. Thank the Lord for every day.

Mother’s Day was tough. Wish I’d found you a few weeks ago but better late than never!

I'm so glad I found you. I've been going through this for years. I only see my son on Mother's day (sometimes, usually I get a text), Christmas Eve and sometimes my birthday. I feel like I'm enabling his estrangement by agreeing to get together. He texted me Friday and said he's working Sunday (Mother's day) and asked if I wanted to get together for lunch at another time (this happens often and usually ends up with no get together and ALWAYS leaves me feeling like a weak pushover). Do I agree and just keep up this cycle? Or do I ignore him to try to make an impact on him? God bless you Dr. Morin, as I said, I am SO glad I found you today. Take care.

Estrangement is separate from alienation... very different. Some parents lose their children to someone else's manipulation.

So helpful. Especially about, I'm going to accept this just for today. Thank you, you and your videos have helped me more than anything else. Including the therapist I've been seeing for the last 5 weeks...
I'm going to read your Ebook. Again thank you!
