I started watching what I eat starting January 1st, 2020. I also incorporated walking into my daily routine. I have spinal stenosis so I have to do something that is low impact. I'm 59 and I weighed 261 pounds at the beginning. My BMI was 42.1. As of today I weigh 181 pounds and my BMI is 29.2. I still want to lose 20 pounds. I started walking .50 miles per day everyday and now I'm up to 3.5 miles everyday rain or shine. Walking is helping me get to where I want to be. Update: 8/10/20 by staggering my walking 3 miles in the morning and 3 miles in the evening I'm up to 6 miles per day and my weight is now 173 pounds. 12 pounds to go.

I live in a COVID hotpot and started walking a month ago to deal with crippling anxiety. I started at 5K a day and now average 16K steps daily weekdays, 22K daily on weekends. I am less anxious, sleep better, eat less crap and just feel better within myself. As an extra bonus, I've also lost 10lbs.
Walk on!

Recently I have begun using public transport instead of my car. So, I walk to the railway station, then I travel by train, and then I walk to my working place - 4000 steps in one direction, 4000 steps going back. Plus, every evening another walking tour by the river near my house. I do at least 400 k steps monthly. I fell rejuvenated, young again - and have put off almost 2 stones by now. Never ever I travel to my job by car.

I am a chronic walker. I go for 25k steps a day unless I am on weekends where in I only go for minimum 10k. It helped a lot on firming up and toning my body. It's my go to bodyweight workout before I head out and do Isometric Routines . I was a 205 pound obese, right now I maintain a weight range of 130 to 145 pounds.

Walking is the easiest way to lose weight, it's easy enough to stay consistent, a lot of people forget about it.

I started walking last year after an inguinal hernia surgery, I walk an hour and a half a day which is 10000 steps more or less. When I walk I don’t listen to anything. I found walking to be very therapeutic, you have time to think about stuff, come up with creative ideas and it relaxes your mind.

I posted a couple of months ago about how great walking has been for me. Well I hit all my goals. I went from 261 to 157 pounds. I lowered my BMI from 42 to 25. I've had to increase my caloric intake by 200 calories per day. I'm currently walking 5 miles everyday. It's to me still the best exercise there is. I also have a scale that does body fat (don't know how accurate those are) it says that since the beginning of the year my body fat has gone from 33.8% to 16.2%. Like I say that may or may not be accurate. I'm a 59 year old male and I still have some belly fat from stretch skin. My waist went from 57" to 35". The walking and weight loss have really helped my stenosis.

Adopt a dog.

Makes you literally responsable to walk.
You get a good friend.
Improved mental health.
You need to vacuum twice as often - good for activity levels i guess.
Can make you feel less alone if you live alone.

Walking, gardening, weight training, carpentry. Any activity can aid weight loss, though it's effects are limited. The key is caloric intake, by far.

There was a experiment in China, where they tested which among these activities improved learning: standing, sitting, walking(cardio). Turns out walking had a better outcome.

I started walking a couple weeks ago. I'm dropping weight like crazy. Joe rogan podcasts, audiobooks, stuff like that. Makes for super easy weight loss without much of an impact on hunger.

Walking also improves your other physical endeavors. My fastest two mile run time was at the end of basic training in the Army, and we walked (marched) everywhere. The running we did was actually easier than what I was used to, but the walking with gear everywhere we went increased my cardio base significantly.

Yes, you can walk inside the house too. Don't have to go outside. I also go for a fast 20 minute walk after lunch. These days when we are still encouraged to work from home, it is a huge mental break as well as a physical one. Like button hit as you are one of my favorite fitness personalities. Thanks!

The year was 2020 when I decided enough was enough. I am 5ft 10 and was 102kg. I started gradually by first getting a treadmill and ensured that I do atleast 15000 steps. I made sure I walk whenever I am watching a show or any videos. Another thing I incorporated was intermittent fasting by doing a 18:6 split. That brought be down to 94 in around 12 months. After that I that I started doing weight training and now I am at 81 kgs. So took a good 3 years to loose 20 kg. But the gradual progress ensured that I don’t go back to my bad habits. I hope all those aspiring to lose those excess weight succeed in their endeavour. It’s life changing and a confidence booster.

I firmly believe the fact that my weight has always been okay, boils down to the fact that I favor walking in a lot of situations (shopping, walking meetings, walking to the gym as a first warmup, clearing my head, even while cooking). And it's highly enjoyable as well!

During the lockdown, I spent so much time on the couch that my knee muscles started to ache from inadequate movements. So I decided to walk every morning;1 hour per day. I feel so much better and healthier... it's also very therapeutic to walk. Walking is now a part of my daily routine!

Walking in a pool is also great exercise. More resistance yet easy on the joints

I can definitely agree how walking alone can keep you in shape! The past few years I was walking to and from work, half an hour each way, (also sometimes during my lunch break just to get fresh air around the block). Since the events of 2020 and as we have all started working from home, this routine changed completely and while I was eating exactly the same diet, if not less, I have stopped my daily walking and I have put on 8, 5 lbs!! Now I have started walking a bit more, but while still working from home I find it harder to get the time to go outside every day.
