Moe Saha does away with the notion that mental illness is somehow not a legitimate illness in her talk. She uses her background in the genetic sciences to back up her argument, and make the case for potential new treatments.

Tamoha Saha is a student at Los Altos High School with unusual passions for both genetics and mental health. She has performed lots of personal research on the subjects.

Brava Moe Saha, you explained in simple terms the basis of epigenetics and mental illness. It is fascinating how there may be a predisposition for mental illness due to an individual's DNA. Thank you for taking the time to do your TEDx Talks presentation. Kepp up the good work.

It’s genetic. Mental illness can be genetic. But it’s also learned and taught. If someone is young and witnessed a murder they can develop PTSD while another child can go through the same thing and not. That could be many factors .

I will agree with the confusion in the previous comments. I see very little structure in the talk. When discussing epigentetics she could of elaborated more on stress factors in epigenetic influences on mental health.

Does indulging in activities that gives u happiness hormones take u a lil away from depression? I really want to know if there is any healthy person who workouts daily and eats healthy gets depressed too.
When my daily schedule is messed up and i eat too much and dont do any form of body movement i get few symptoms of depression. Will it be worst if i keep living this lifestyle?

I’ve met a lot of people who say they depressed but then blame others for their problems and the holes they dug themselves in, heads up ur not depressed your in denial and no one needs to change except you, too those fighting real depression, just know that every days a blessing to become your best self, we can get through his people

The presenter is sweet, book smart and likable. The information however is not accurate. Mental illness is not easily treatable and medication has proven to have WORSE outcomes than non-medicated patients in the LONG run. Anatomy of an epidemic is eye opening. Highly recommend it.
