Loved your video so much Sarah!! Your point about not putting minimalism into a box is such a good one!! 🤍

1. Decluttering by yourself
2. Putting too much pressure on getting rid of things (even if you still use them)
3. Putting minimalism into a box (have it from your own perspective)
4. Not donating properly
5. Decluttering as an excuse to buy more
6. Doing it because it's trendy
7. Not finding fulfillment beyond your items
8. Being an overly proud minimalist

Minimalism actually has helped a lot with my anxiety and depression when I did it gradually :D

I became a minimalist when I got divorced. Losing half your stuff is a real kickstarter! I now focus on quality items and hobbies!

I've always had a box of things for the thrift store sitting in my closet - if I think I want to get rid of some clothes, I put them in the box, and if I don't reach for them in a few months, I know I'm ready to let them go :)

What I am hearing is be more mindful about what you have, mindful about what you buy, mindful about how you give, mindful about how you spend your time. We all need to be more mindful! Thank you Sarah for this beautiful reminder!

My mistake was trying to declutter the WHOLE house and being overwhelmed 🙌 have taken the room at a time/slow and steady approach now. Ps.. your hair 😍

Unrelated - I'm not Christian but I really appreciate your values and traditionally minded world view. I find peace in listening to you. Greetings from Finland! 🇫🇮

I'm not a minimalist, but I recently decluttered my room and I'm so happy about it😊

Lovely video sarah! I just have to point out, YMCAs and men's shelters (mens charities in general like prostate cancer vs breast cancer) get a lot less funding, donations, etc. than their female counterparts. For those of us who have male partners who want to donate their things, men's shelters would be absolutely delighted to hear that!

I lived in a 288 sq. ft. tiny house without running water for 2 years. It no longer worked for me so now I live in a small apartment in town. The things I learned from Mockingbird Landing (my tiny house) I hope to take with me everywhere I go. My minimalism looks like me, including my yarn art on the wall. I have overcome the pitfalls of wanting to "look" like a minimalist and truly just made a welcoming home for me and who ever comes over for coffee. I have anxiety disorders and sensory processing disorder so minimalist ideals are necessary and beneficial. Loved this video.

Thanks Sarah! Me and my fiancé are aspiring minimalists living with his very maximalist mum... It's such an important reminder for me to stay humble being here! but I also can't wait to move into our new flat and live more with less. Your videos have been so helpful 😍❤️

“start slow, be consistent” I should remind myself this everyday. ✊🏼

I am not a minimalist by any means but I have gone through the process of learning to be more intentional about my purchases. I do slip up at times but I'm getting there. One day I'd like to own less makeup but for now I'm content with what I have and don't keep what I'm not using. This honestly arose out of necessity, having started a job that was paying 1/2 of my previous salary, but I'm happy it happened.
My thoughts surrounding intentional purchasing at this point is now surrounding environmental impact and its definitely a work in progress.

I love makeup as a hobby (which is how I found your channel when it used to be a beauty channel☺️). But I recently did a huge declutter & organized all of my makeup. I would by no means say that it’s a minimalist collection/ amount of makeup, but it did put into perspective how much I would like to keep my makeup this curated! I could easily see me moving on to other categories of items in my life like clothing, products, books, etc. and minimizing more clutter there as well!

Man I hadn't noticed that I'm currently doing the "decluttering so I can buy more" lololol. Actually it's more like: "decluttering out of guilt for having bought a lot of stuff" haha yikes...
