How To Find Time To Workout & Exercise On A Busy Schedule

So you're looking to get into better shape and begin a training program, but the main thing standing in your way is simple: you have no time to work out.

Although I do recognize that most of us really do have a busy schedule and might feel like they don't have time to exercise, I'm here to tell you that in the vast majority of cases it just isn't true.

The reality is that a proper training program doesn't have to involve endless hours in the gym, and you can easily get by on as little as 45 minutes to an hour done 3 days per week. If you really examine your schedule in detail, can you honestly say you can't find time to work out for that amount of time?

3 sessions a week will allow you to train your entire body in the gym effectively, and you can even squeeze some cardio in at the end as well to kill two birds with one stone.

If you really want to fit a workout into your busy schedule, it's just a matter of making it happen.

For example, wake up an hour earlier and train before work or school. Spend 1 less hour per day watching TV or surfing the web. Go the gym on your breaks at school or on your lunch break at work.

There's always a way to make it happen, and if you truly sat down and took a good look at how you spend every hour of the day, I'm sure you can see that there IS a way for you to train even if you feel like you don't have time to work out.

In all my years as a fitness coach, I've never come across a person who truly has "no time for bodybuilding" or who couldn't find a way to workout with a busy schedule if they really put their mind to it.

I really am trying not to make excuses. I wake up at 4:30AM start my day take dogs out, take kids to school, go to work, 30 minute lunch, get home at 6:30-7PM and I do IF fast from 9AM-3PM. So after 7PM when I’m home (realistically 7:30 after preparing food for family) I’m tired and my stomach is empty so I don’t have energy to work out. I don’t want to quit fasting because I’ve lost 30 lbs from it, I also don’t want to eat late or take a pre-workout late and ruin my sleep/metabolism. It’s really hard to wake up at 3AM I did it one day and I was sleepy through the entire day, almost fell asleep driving. I think I can only use my 2 off days to work out. I work at a call center so I walk around outside on my 2x 10 min breaks, it’s the least cardio I can do for the day.

I love the tips about prioritizing exercise in a busy schedule. Sometimes just getting started is the hardest part.

This video really helped me realize that even short workouts can be effective. It's all about making time where you can.

This guy is saying all need is one hour of your time during the day to go to the gym. How about driving to the gym, looking for parking, working out for one hour, drive back home and look for parking? The one hour workout turns into a 3 hour workout or more. Most people don't have this amount of free time during the day. My advice for busy people is to buy some basic workout equipment at home and then combine it with some weekend gym workouts.

There's certainly been times in my life when training properly would have been difficult outside of the weekends. When we had young children and I was travelling 3-4 hours each side of an 8 hour work day, there was little time during the week, but I still could have done weights and cardio at the weekend. Usually people in that sort of situation mention that they don't have enough energy to train, but it's really that they don't have enough energy to feel motivated to train. Generally, the more exercise you do, without over training, the more energy you'll have, so it's just starting that can be the difficult part.

Thanks Sean. I know this is an old video but I came here because I I never have time to work out. I needed to hear "stop making excuses" and be more realistic about what is possible for me. I wanted to do a push/pull/legs 2x week and that's just not possible for me. So I was giving up since I didn't have time. Instead of giving up I'm just going to adjust my workouts to only 3x a week or everyday but no longer than 45min. Whichever plan keeps me from giving up is the plan I'll stick with.

I hate the “lunch break” thing. Who has time to get to the gym, change, workout, shower, change again, and get back to the office in an hour. That’s ridiculous and no one does it.

Thank you! Honestly if you really want something you’ll do anything to make it happen. Success=persistence and dedication

Yes, I am one of those people who has absolutely no spare time to work out M-F. I don't get a lunch break and during the work week I am literally going nonstop from 5:15 in the morning until my head hits the pillow at night 🤷🏾‍♀️. I have an insane job with no time boundaries. Most women with busy careers have other people and pets we have to take care of and give time to around work.

If you want something bad enough, you will make time to do it.

I agree with 3x 1 hour as a beginner, but training optimally at an intermdiate/avanced + level, you need more more than that and that's where it becomes hard

I am 14 and live on a farm so it is tough, but I find time to work out 3 or 4 times a week for about 2 hours each.

i work 35 hours per week on nightshifts to be able to afford my 30 hour per week education during the day. I'm happy when I'm able to shove in 6 hours of sleep, but thats not always possible. With also needing time to learn I really can't fit in the gym anymore. I've tried to fit in some bodyweight stuff at home but I'm often just too tired for that.

Also, for some ppl who are already living a stressful lifestyle, adding more cardio and hiit actually stresses the system out even more causing fat to be withheld. And you failed to address that a high-demand lifestyle is exhausting. So even if the time opened up, I literally can't stay awake I'm so fried after a workday. The truth is no one seems to have the answer.

Trying to find time to workout while being an Engineer student and working full-time.

I only do flat bench press, partial deadlift and bent row
This will make my body grow
Why is it necessary to make the workout big and complex
Because I don't want to compete and some thing like that shit🥶
