Time? You mean
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way?

Felt very much like a tribal elder sharing his wisdom of experience. Thanks for the heartfelt and thoughtful words and sonics.

Family issues, health issues...children issues...job..sometimes the only music I hear during the day is coming out from the car radio...but still when I am on the road sometimes I think of melodies and soundscapes..I guess I am in winter season. That's life!! The way you set things really make these videos as videos from a friend. And thats great. As it's Christmass morning here I wish to all health, great smiles on everyones faces and clear thinking

Thank you for making this video.

As a proud husband and father to two young children, with a big house to renovate and all the other responsibilities, it is often difficult to make the music I want to.

From performing twice a week and recording constantly until 5 years ago when our first child was born has taken a lot of adjusting. Stress levels have been high because music is my catharsis.

Going with the flow is definitely good advice.

Last week I had been up all night with sleepless kids and was running around trying to get one ready for school.

In the end we were all late but instead of getting angry, I tried to embrace the moment like a rollercoaster ride. It helped a lot to just run with it.

You've taken a lot of care about our mental health as musicians and it really does help.

Thank you Bill. I needed to hear this. I’m 48 and have been a bit of a slump. Your advice was helpful and inspiring. You are the Bob Ross of Frippertronic guitar.

Music is literally my life. It’s always around me... Probably, without music world will be empty. Thanks for the interesting explanation of identity of musician from your perspective👌

I am a musician. I was an active for years. Music is my passion. It is my therapy.

I can spend all of my off time creating playing music.

My problem is that I need a new career. My work hours and days are so erratic.

I get off late then sleep late. On my one random day off I end on a closing shift and end up sleeping away the day.

Another issue with my hours is that when I get off work all of my family members are asleep, so I cannot play/practice/write without waking someone.

I know the problem: I need to find another job that will afford me some “me time.”

Everything you say also applies to full time musician! It’s very easy not to have time for « your » music when you make a living out of playing and teaching! I find necessary to keep a moment for creative music and research of new sounds and playing perspective. Because when I’m hired to create music on a project either for screen or for theater I can’t afford not to have a bag of ideas that are relatively easy to pull out for what the situation is. And that’s what my « by me for me » music time is.

That "identity" is a big one.

Thanks for this. Working graveyard shift, and raising a child can make things difficult to get the motivation to make more music. This video most certainly helped!

I love the logic. I have five kids, and struggle to give my musician identity the time it needs while being a responsible parent and husband. Very timely video. Thx!

Thanks for the wise words Bill! One can only hope to "get there" sometime. I especially struggle with seeing myself as a musician, but I hope that'll come one day.
