Yep, perfect tips. I did this and over time, I was able to do both pull ups and chin ups without much difficulty.

Other tip is to do Australian pull ups. And also, if possible, use a neutral grip on the pull up bar. This is slightly easier but allows good progression. The other tip I can give is if you don't have resistance bands, or don't want to use it, try a bench or box to assist you with progression

I used to do over 100 pull ups once a week back when I was younger. Stopped for over a decade and now struggling to get back into it. This is great advice.
