I told my DR in the UK that I was going to do Keto and intermittent fasting. He said don't do it, its dangerous. I no longer take insulin and have lost 60 pounds.

*My daughter drinks lots of water and urinates with the same rate, there are no other symptoms to show if those have anything to do with diabetes. This is a good information that I have gone through **Diabets.Care** She is 2 years 9 months, hale and healthy, have not done any blood test. But I am not certain if one can get diabetes at such a tender age. Please I will like to know more on that*

I skipped step one because my doctor doesn't believe in "starving" yourself and fad diets (He has great things to say about meds though!). I rejected his referral to a weight loss "nutrition specialist" since I knew it would be the typical calorie counting, moderate carb, low fat, low salt diet. Four months later into Keto+IF and taking free advice from "Youtube doctors", I am down 70lbs, blood sugar and cholesterol levels are all normal. Doctor is still trying to shrug it off 😆. He also seems to know nothing about insulin resistance. I gotta find a new doc!

I still got a long way to go, but I just went from 500lb to 470 in 14 days. I’m doing a combination of intermittent OMAD fasting, and a few days dry fasting each week. Thank you you so much Mr Fung for helping to educate us! I never thought it would be possible to get my weight under control again, but so far it’s working unbelievably well.. Watch this space! 😎

I was diagnosed with type two diabetes 3 months ago. My glucose was 398 and my A1C was 10.2. After 3 months of 16/8 fasting, my glucose was 92 and my A1C went down to 6.1 and I went from 244lbs to 209lbs. Thanks to Dr. Fung's guidance I'm on my way to loose the unwanted weight and have normal blood levels.

Talk to your doctor? I just did the other day... and she added 30 more units daily to my insulin proscription. No, I won't talk to her. Not any more.

I was never a diabetic. But I started this year on the verge of obesity and am ending this year on the verge of optimal weight. Thank you Dr Fung for your books and videos!

I have reversed(Controlled?) type 2 diabetes through intermittent fasting. When I did my blood work in April 2021, I was shocked to know that my FBS was 315 and HBA1C is 12.4. That was a wake up call. I wasn't extremely obese(178cm, 83-84 kg) but over weight. The doctors immediately put me into metformin. After watching Dr. Eric Berg and Jason Fung, I started 16 hours intermittent fasting(not really full Keto though) and started walking 8k-10k steps a day. I started noticing significant improvement in my sugar control(FBS dropped to 86-90 with medication). Then I went ahead and dropped the medication around mid June. When I checked my HBA1C in September, it has dropped to 5.7 and FBS/Random blood sugar are in healthy range. Below are the changes I have made to my life style
- Started IF(16/80 by skipping breakfast(I was never a breakfast guy)
- Completely stopped taking sugar. Replaced sugar with Stevia(for the tea or protein Shake)
- We eat a lot of rice as part of our food habit. Reduced the portion of rice and added more protein/veggies
- I am a software engineer with inactive life style. So started walking 8K-10K steps a day. Tried to include it as part of the lifestyle(walking while taking the calls etc. )
- Included more protein in the form of whey supplement(Vegetarian for most part)
- Reduced 8-10 Kg due to all the changes
- Started a bit of resistance training
- Right now my HBA1C is 5.7 and fasting blood sugar anywhere between 90 - 110

Hopefully its a permanent change, not a transient one. Writing this hoping it could motivate someone.

Unbelievably grateful, an ICU nurse here, I have slowly weaned myself off from 3 BP meds and 1 diabetic med. it took me 5 months of low carb, keto, time restricted eating and truly understanding all your discussions. I have reversed all that, my BP 110/60 blood sugar so controlled. I feel so good. For years, they were just increasing my medications, with minimal focus on what truly works. There is so much obesity, HPN, dialysis -renal failure, heart attacks, strokes, cancer all around us which brings so much pain...Please let us continue to educate our love ones and society. Dr. Fung my hero! Thank you 🙏

Dr. Fung's books got me off heavy insulin & metformin despite being a ten year diabetic. But I had to get my Endo MD to let me extend ''alternate'' day water-only fasting up to 42 hours for 21 days 'alternately' which was a total of only 11 fasts in between ten feeding days. Since then, I'm now down 146 pounds. TY Dr Fung.

As you advised, I did talk to my endocrinologist before starting to fast. I am obese at 78 kgs for my height, Type 2 diabetic, Hypothyroidism thyroidism & PCOS and ofcourse the MDD( December 2021).He downright refused to help me with my medications saying that I shouldn't fast and had laid an obnoxious diet consisting of everything I don't want to eat. I started with 12 hr IF anyways.. Gradually to OMAD in 6 months. I was on OXRAMET 5/1000 twice a day and I myself shifted to once a day just 20 minutes before my OMAD.
After 8 months,
I am down to 64 kgs, energy levels are better.

the blood sugar is better than it was before.

I moved left from obese to overweight.

I get my periods every month without any medications.

I still have a long way to go to achieve my normal BMI.
Only if the doctors here in India were more open to IF, it would help so many of us to get rid of medications but then that's the catch! Nobody would go to them 😁

I can't tell you how many diabetics say I can't fast, it drops my glucose. Duh! I've asked have you called your doctor? No. Well call them, it's probably time to lower your medication. "Oh, no. My doctor wants me on this med." Ding Ding you don't need it. I can fast 2 days now and it really helps. My levels stay normal. I've never pushed it past 2 days though. I got through Thanksgiving eating what I wanted, just smaller portions and no problems. Just fasted two days before. My glucose did go up a bit, around 120 at one point, but came slowly back down. I'm fasting since last night and back down between 80- 100, no meds.

I was pre-diabetic. A1C was 5.9. Doing IF lost 74lbs in 14 months. My A1C is now 5.1. I eat Keto/low carb & walk/cycle for exercise.

Dr. Fung. Thank you. After watching many of your videos, I started using your fasting techniques. I do 6 days of 16/8 intermittent fasting and 1 day of OMAD. I have been on this fasting pattern for almost 2 months. I have lost 46 pounds and am no longer taking medication for my type 2 diabetes. I was also able to stop taking blood pressure medication. You are saving peoples lives! Thank you.
