I have noticed that when parents punish children, the tendency is to deprive the child of something precious. So the child learns that the very people who they should love the most, are the same people capable of hurting them the most. Trust suffers Respect suffers. Love suffers

It's not all about the parent to help the child grow. Ever hear of the term "it takes a village to raise a child"? Because it not just the parent. And yes if all of the people in that child environment do not help the child then the child will not develop correctly. It's not always one factor.
