I am afraid that the World is run by people with all these traits, there are so many powerful people all over who have achieved their goals stepping over other people, literally, and yet, they harvest admiration. Are they wrong or is our society that has shifted its values?

I wish you would explore more of psychopathy and machiavelic tendencies in some therapists. Nobody talks about, narcissistic and psychopathic psychologists. Why? They destroying peoples lives, disguised as good people.

My brother is one and as far as I can tell, he has everyone fooled and manipulated - including me, for 50 years. But then, after slandering me VERY publicly, he turned around and accused me of "slandering" him to a friend of mine he'd never even met THEN used circular reasoning, to accuse me of using circular reasoning - literally. I asked him "how am i using circular reasoning?" (I was asking "for what" he demanded I apologize - I asked 2-3 times and he would not reply) and he said....wait for YOU ARE". Mind blown!!! He gave himself away and opened my eyes to something i can not unsee. 5 years later, he is still playing the victim of me and I still can not get a good nights sleep, remembering all the other times he accused me of being or doing who he was or what he was doing and slowly putting the pieces together of how he has basically tried to destroy me from the moment I suspect he realized I was beginning to catch onto him...but it still took another 4 years for me to actually "get it"!

My mother is this but a sociopath, not a psychopath. Took 40 years for me to break free. Now I tell my story to everyone. UPDATE More came out in the last year. I was mistaken.... she is 100% a psycopath

you nailed this personality, one trait with the one I know is being camouflaged, and seemingly less intelligent to further her ends.

I'll be honest, I scored really high on the dark triad test, specifically machiabellianism, but thing is, I use my manipulative powers on bad people only, I don't cause harm to innocents, I only attack when attacked

I do believe you guys know that Satan in a woman suit that my son married! Before he met her he was an easy-going, guitar player, who had many friends, and loved to laugh!
He went on to have a complete nervous breakdown and is now somewhat better, but she did total destruction of his spirit of joy and health.

I was married to one for 30+ years. I had to flee the state to avoid being murdered.

It would interesting to see a deep dive on the psychology of "IDon'tWorkHereLady". You see the same thought processes and the same language arrived at independently by so many of these people who obviously are not comparing notes.

First and foremost, holding on to a belief formed only moments ago in spite of clear evidence to the contrary-- often even going back to the same belief after conceding the point. e.g., after being told that someone is not an employee, replying after a pause something like: "Well why would anyone wear blue to this store? I want her fired anyway"

And then so many common themes, almost without fail utilizing multiple of the following:
"You're wearing a mask, all the employees here are wearing masks" "I've seen you here before."
"How stupid do you think I am?" "Do you think I'm stupid."

"Stop being lazy." "You're just being lazy" "You'll never do better than this job with that attitude"
"I'll have you fired" "I'll sue" "I'm calling the police"
"Finally, hurry up - I've been waiting for XX minutes"

I don't doubt narcissism is playing a big role but it feels like there's at least one more component?

Narcissists have smarts; but that only means they can think fast; non narcissists have more intelligence, and think more critically, logically, and reasonably, and so they/we see the bigger picture as it really is. They have more mental agility; but thats because they do so many mental-gymnastics.

I agree with a commenter . Why don’t we hear more about psychologists who have these qualities?

I think that any personality disorder that lacks empathy and remorse for harming others has a high likelihood of committing crimes. Whether that person gets caught, prosecuted and convicted is a separate issue than if the person with a dark triad will commit crimes. Anyone who has no concept of remorse and also high impulsive is going to do something eventually bc there is no social mechanism of accountability (ie jail) that they even consider while acting on their impulse. I find it difficult to imagine that we have tons of dark triad personalities running around who aren’t harming others and violating laws and boundaries and social norms…bc that is part of their disorder. If they weren’t doing these things, they wouldn’t have these personality disorders. So, not buying into that idea that they aren’t committing crimes. They are. They just aren’t getting caught and being held accountable for their actions.

And then of course, we now also have the even more evil (scary thought) Dark Tetrad. Fascinating to study. I hope it will be covered on this channel sometime soon.

I associate the triad with three specialised advisors to a tyrant.
