Many who watch Bollywood would never know about the Jaraea, Banjara, or other "scheduled castes" groups, especially if they have dark skin....

I don't use the terms "dalit", "untouchable ", or "unseeable".

I think you need to take care of your caste system first. And many of these other problems will disappear. Starting in the 1950s White Americans couldn’t get dark enough. They rubbed oil on themselves and baked in the sun. When the skin cancer hit and the old age wrinkled skins, it became unpopular. But we still have tanning beds and now we have spray on skin darkeners. So, I believe this conversation is more complex than this video reveals.

South Koreans dye their skin to look whites. That doesn’t mean the same thing as wanting to be white. It’s an aesthetic. Japanese women will wear an umbrella in the summer to avoid getting a tan. There is a Japanese sun culture of girls that love copper skin. Japanese women used to dye their teeth black to have the mouth more appealing to the men.

Indians do have an appoint caste system which can and does allow for slavery and indentured servitude. The higher castes have a lighter skin tone.

The irony lies in the fact that, apart from the two girls in the video, who chose not to use makeup to lighten their natural skin tone, the rest of the women opted for heavy makeup to achieve a lighter complexion, which is also problematic.

Youre talking nonsense. Colorism is out of control in the Far East, less so India.

I love my color!
I did not realize this was a problem until I left Jamaica. I thought that I was just a Jamaican. Still this is other peoples problem. I am happy in my skin!

I'm Brazilian and we absolutely have no problem in sitting in the sun and getting tanned. That's true in Brazil and that's true in many other Latin American countries. Does it mean there is no racism?... in a sense you can say that, because the percentage of mixed race people in Brazil is very high and even when you say you are white, you are saying that because you look white, if you look further and you will find relatives that are not quite that white. In fact, there was a research doing some genetical analysis in Brazil and it was found that 80% of those who self-declared as white had 20% of non-white ascendency on the mother side. That's why I can't take seriously anyone who is Brazilian and declares him/her self a racist. I've seen people doing that and look at them and I could see they were not entirely white... that was dumb to me. Make no sense.

Blaming colorism and racism on colonialism is crazy. I am Eroupean we were under ottoman slavery for 500 years and we don't have Turkish ppl for our standard of beauty. You all live in European or western countries and blaming them for your culture...
