Us black people need to stop wanting everyone to like us and start loving ourselves.

I'm black...found a wonderful man in Italy but also experienced blatant racism by a security guard at a museum. He screamed and accused me of having a knife in my bag. I opened my back pack and all I had was a bottle of vitamins and a croissant. 🥴 He was very embarrassed for the whole scene made and apologized. The incident shook me up so badly all I could do was go back to my hotel. I cried and hid in my room for two days, as it was so traumatic. I eventually came out and continued to tour the country with the wonderful man I met there.

Im from Italy, regular civilians jumped in the sea in the middle of the night and almost died to save immigrants that were about to drown while trying to cross the Mediterranean. Look up what happened in “cutro” a couple years ago and you’ll see the truth about us. Ignorance will be everywhere, but a love like ours is not easy to find.

I am Italian and I deny this generalization. I live in a city where there are many black people who live their lives without experiencing racial attacks of any kind.

If you have suffered attacks of this kind I'm sorry, but they are attacks that come from ignorant people who can be found in every country in the world.

My mother always said “don’t go where you know you’re not welcome “.

I visited Italy (southern Italy), and I had no problems with the locals.
I won't forget when in Sicily I was amongst a crowd bunched together, trying to get onto transportation. There was this white American guy who thought he could be nasty to me & push me. Before I could react, the entire crowd of Sicilians was not having that. They reacted to him so quickly, like, 'yooo wtf do you think you're doing?!' He got back right real quick.
I felt that ❤😊❤

What does loving ourselves have to do with not wanting to be mistreated? I love me but I don’t want you to verbally and/or physically assault me because of the color of my skin. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Generally speaking Italians do not bother about skin's colour. They are much more concerned about illegal immigration ( mostly from Africa) and crime-related immigration that is the same issue you can find in France or in the United kingdom and eventually in Northern Europe. A very common issue nowdays

I visited Italy twice this year, for a total of 2 months. I felt like I was getting worshipped; thats how great people were to me. At a party, a man announced loudly " You are by far, the best looking woman here!" Even the women were exceedingly kind to me and very helpful, especially when I needed directions. There were few exceptions, but it was envy/insecurity/jealousy and not racism. I rarely paid for meals or drinks. Italians spoiled me ❤. Yes, im a black woman.

I'm black and I honestly don't care to be liked by other races. I don't understand why it is so important for some black people to be liked.

The best fact in Italy is not food but HOSPITALITY.
If they were looking wrong at you that's because you were doing something wrong. We're very sensitive to manners...

Its true. This happened to my daughter and I while we were on vacation. in Rome. We could not even get a taxi to stop for us. We were so grateful when a man came out of the crowd and told us to step back and flagged the taxi. It stopped for him.
That night we were invited to an outdoor concert but we decided against going because we were afraid we would not get a taxi to our hotel. That was just one of many incidents during the week we spent there.
Next stop..somewhere in Africa. Why should I spend good money with people who hate us?

Old buddy taught English in Japan for a year before he left due to depression. People were openly racist, and gossiped about him infront his face because they assumed he didn't speak the language. Racism exists everywhere man.

I have been to Italy many times and in my most recent visit I was treated like a queen. I stayed in some of the most luxurious hotels there are along the Amalfi Coast to include Capri as well as the Rome, Positano and even the beautiful island of Ischia. Never was I treated bad. I feel that is the aura that people put out in the universe that has them received what they perceive as racism.

She is confusing being hated with NOT being venerated and deified like it happens in UK. Got ignored few times and concluded it must be due to her skin tone.
