Jim, I've certainly experienced burnout for a number of reasons at a relatively young age. Personally, I believe in creating a safe environment to communicate and grow in. I did not know to do that as a content driven teacher in my first and second years and the content I so loved wasn't what I was there for, the kids needed me more than I could understand. Having gone back to customer service to give myself a break, I run into burnout again. This time it was lack of recognition, status, and fair wages in relation to my experience and education. Finally, although unemployed and not on unemployment, I find myself applying for a position in HR at Challenge Manufacturing and the key to avoiding burnout will be to always have the next challenge in mind. Do something easy when you retire. At 36 I am happiest making connections and communicating with people. More importantly, I love learning just as much as I love teaching and manufacturing companies are an avenue I have not yet ventured into. Challenge: Accepted?
